Been in the Acadiana area my entire life (58 years), but both of my children want to leave the state. They are 28 and 22 and the only other thing keeping my wife and I here is my elderly dad and her mother. We both would leave to be closer to the kids and future grandkids. We like the idea of a place with actual seasons or proximity to nice beaches. The hardest part would be employment since we are both retired educators with no desire to go back into that profession. We support ourselves with a small lawn and landscape business now and I love the freedom that gives us, but I’m sure it would be challenging to try to start that from scratch in an unfamiliar place. It is exciting to think of a change of scenery and that life in another state could be an interesting way to live out whatever time we have left!
My MIL and her siblings came to New Orleans to be educated through a program with the United Fruit Company in the 1950’s. Her mother was Honduran and her father was from Italy and worked for UFC in Honduras. They all became naturalized citizens eventually. She is in her 80’s and still works full time as an educator and is also a licensed interpreter.

“Sushi” knows more than anyone and can better explain, but that is one of the choices in that situation.

Sounds like an inadvertent whistle situation.
[quote]What's your opinion on the overturned touchdown? I thought he had possession and made a football move, so it should have been a touchdown.

I’m 57 years old, so I’m calling that a catch and a touchdown all day long. But with the rules these days I’m completely clueless. I guess they said he didn’t control the ball and complete the catch?
quote:

Ok. Everything I read says you need at least 7. If they changed the rule it's not coming up when I search. I stand corrected.

I thought the same thing, and that’s what the rule used to state, they simply removed any reference to 7 on and simply require no more than 4 off now.
quote:

Yes which means you must have 7 on the line.

Just got explanation from an NCAA referee. About 5 years ago both NCAA and NFHS changed the rule to say only you can’t have more than 4 off the ball. You do not need 7 on the line. Example, you only have 10 on the field because a TE ( who would be on the line) forgets to come out, and you have 5 lineman and a SE on the line, and the qb, rb, slot, and a fb off the ball; you still have a legal formation with fewer than 7 on the los. And you could legally put 10 on the los as well.
quote:

You're conflating the two rule books. There is nowhere in the ncaa book that requires 7 on the line. There used to be, bit they changed it for a reason. Look it up.

I’m looking but haven’t found where legal formations are yet. And I’m not arguing, I genuinely like learning the rules. But are you saying that now there is no rule stating a minimum number of players need to be on the line?
quote:

On offense you need to have 7 players on the line of scrimmage before the snap. Look it up.

But you can have more than 7, 10 on the los is legal, but now you have only 2 eligible receivers.
Illegal formation

The NCAA and NFL rulebooks state that the offensive line must have seven players and an eligible receiver on both sides of the line of scrimmage. To prevent an illegal formation, each player between receivers must be an ineligible receiver.

Each offensive player and eligible receiver has to be in bounds. If the offensive linemen or any offensive players break these rules, it is considered an illegal formation and a five-yard penalty.
Landry’s agenda is whatever is best for Landry. If it helps Louisiana, it’s coincidental.

Instead of continuing to throw darts at a board every 5 years, why don’t the insurance carriers just show their math on how they calculate premiums and we can target legislation towards the areas that are increasing premiums at a higher rate?

Get the hell out of here with rational ideas!

Anyone remember Tibby's on the Northside in Lafayette. The really old one on St. Leo I think?

Yes, went there a couple of times in the late 70/s. Learned how to skate at what is now the St Bernard school gym in Breaux Bridge. My great uncle ran the rink for a few years before they opened the school back up and reclaimed the gym.

I want to know what the lyrics were, lol.

Never said they aren’t good. Many players get overhyped whether it’s the league they play in or are just 7 on 7 camp warriors. There’s definitely more to it than he wants to be stress free and richer. Once you win that first one it becomes an addiction.

Dennis is a very close friend. It’s comical to see people like you, who have probably never even met him, speculate about his motives. I guarantee only one thing, he is not running away because the talent left. That alone tells me you don’t know anything about him.
I agree, coached against several of his teams. He is a hell of a coach and a winner.
