re: Spinoff Thread: Why not UAB?

Posted by TigerJames on 5/8/13 at 2:09 pm to
Could you guys come up with better analysis than this. I get that you don't want them to join but you aren't telling me why. SECRant should be a place to exchange opinions and I'm asking for yours about UAB as a potential SEC member.

Spinoff Thread: Why not UAB?

Posted by TigerJames on 5/8/13 at 2:05 pm
It didn't get fully addressed in the other thread so I decided to separate the two. UAB is a top tier academic school with a huge student population. It is in a vibrant city and the SEC is headquartered there. Maybe it could dilute Alabama's influence in the league offices. The team is also improving a lot in basketball and would serve as a natural rival to Bama and Auburn. What do you guys think of potentially adding UAB?
I'd say UAB and Louisville. Louisville adds football and basketball and is a natural rival with Kentucky and UAB is a top medical school in a vibrant city that happens to be the headquarters of the SEC and a natural rival for Bama and Auburn. UAB is also a really large school so with the SEC revenue they can improve their sports teams quickly.

Better State to Live In

Posted by TigerJames on 5/8/13 at 11:51 am
Michigan or Pennsylvania? My best friend has to choose between job offers that pay about the same. One is in a Philly suburb the other in a Detroit suburb.
Everyone should put their SEC predictions here and I'll bump this at the end of the season to see who was most accurate. You can just give who you thinks will win if you'd rather. Here are mine.

SEC West:
1. LSU 12-0 (8-0)
2. Ole Miss 10-2 (7-1)
3. Alabama 10-2 (6-2)
4. Texas A&M 8-4 (4-4)
5. Arkansas 5-7 (2-6)
5. Mississippi State 5-7 (2-6)
7. Auburn 3-9 (0-8)

SEC East:
1. Georgia 10-2 (7-1)
1. South Carolina 10-2 (7-1)
3. Florida 9-3 (6-2)
4. Tennessee 7-5 (4-4)
5. Vanderbilt 7-5 (3-5)
6. Missouri 5-7 (1-7)
7. Kentucky 3-9 (0-8)

Conference Championship: LSU 17 Georgia 13

SEC Coach of the Year: Hugh Freeze
SEC Offensive Player of the Year: Zach Mettenburger
SEC Defensive Player of the Year: Jadaveon Clowney
SEC Newcomer of the Year: Trey Matthews
I honestly expect Mettenburger to win the Heisman. Maybe Belue will develop into a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick though.
I'm curious to see how this will affect Rooney. Moyes and Rooney have a long running feud which could lead to Rooney leaving for PSG or Bayern Munich.

Lowest 247 Ranking

Posted by TigerJames on 5/8/13 at 9:07 am
You know how 247 now has skill ratings from 1-10 for prospects? I was wondering if anyone has found someone get a skill rating of 1. The lowest I've seen is Matt Elam] getting two 3s.

Favorite Childhood Games

Posted by TigerJames on 5/7/13 at 1:22 pm
What are your top 5 favorite childhood games and do you still play them? Here are mine.

1. Backyard Baseball - Don't play cause I have a MAC
2. Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 - ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
3. Super Smash Bros. Melee - Have it in my dorm but rarely play
4. Mary Kate and Ashley Magical Mystery Mall - Once a month or so
5. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 - Lost it
I was an Arsenal fan until they sold Nasri to City. I've had the chance to meet him on a few occasions and consider him my favorite athlete. Now I'm a City fan.
Hopefully Luiz to a team in Sudan/Somalia/North Korea.

re: Predicting Summer Transfers

Take it for what you will but my father is good friends with Wenger. They grew up together in France. Anyway they were chatting of the phone the other day and it seems Arsenal are interested in him. Would definitely strengthen the midfield and upset Spurs
Could you combine all of these pictures into a sig? Thanks.

Could you make me a signature-picture with Mike the Tiger, Urban Meyer, Samir Nasri and Hillary Clinton. All with the background of Tiger Stadium and have it read TigerJames at the top. This would be greatly appreciated.

Predicting Summer Transfers

Posted by TigerJames on 5/7/13 at 12:54 pm
When the summer transfer window is over who will we be saying are the 5 biggest summer transfers?

My take:
1. Neymar to Barcelona
2. Bale to Man City
3. Suarez to Bayern Munich
4. Hummels to Man City
5. Modric to Arsenal
One of my friends is a Wigan fan who's so delusional he thinks they'll be Champions League material in the next 5 years.
I expect Hand to end up at Auburn. He's said he wants to go to a top engineering school and Auburn certainly is. I think VT will go 6-6 and that will turn him off from them.

Predictions for our top targets

Posted by TigerJames on 5/7/13 at 12:45 pm
Forget 247's crystal ball predictions. Where do you think our top targets will go? Here are my predictions

Fournette - LSU
Robinson - Bama
Noil - LSU
Hootie Jones - Bama
Dupree - Bama
Willis - A&M
Brown - LSU
I'm a Man City fan but outside of United/Chelsea I'd say:

1. Barcelona
2. PSG
3. AC Milan
4. Inter Milan
5. Wigan

re: Introducing Myself

As previously stated I enjoyed the game. I already knew I'd come here. My whole family went to LSU. I'm sorry for my first post. Probably too much homerism and my alcohol probably hasn't worn off from last night yet. Hope to develop into a good poster.

I grew up in Ohio and have had this debate with a bunch of homers. I'm interested in getting some more objective opinions. Outside of y'alls hatred for yankee football can y'all rank these programs as to how good of coaching jobs they are.

For me:
1. Ohio State.
2. Notre Dame
3. Michigan

I'm a LSU fan first so I enjoyed that game. I just root for Ohio State in their other games.

Introducing Myself

Just wanted to introduce myself as a poster. I'm a junior at LSU majoring in Political Science. I'm originally from Columbus, Ohio so I'm also a Ohio State fan. Can't wait to discuss Tiger football with y'all.
Yeah he wants to follow up Patrick Peterson and TM7
