Forensic Car Accident Experts Arrive On Conclusion With Tiger Woods

In an interview with USA Today, car accident analysis expert Jonathan Cherney shared that he believes Tiger Woods may have fallen asleep behind the wheel. Based on what he saw from the scene, the evidence indicates that Woods either suffered “a medical episode or fell asleep” since he didn’t hit the brakes until after he was off the road...

“To me, this is like a classic case of falling asleep behind the wheel, because the road curves and his vehicle goes straight,” said Jonathan Cherney, a consultant who provides car accident analysis as an expert witness in court cases. Cherney, a former police detective, examined the Woods’ crash site in person since the accident on Tuesday.

“It’s a drift off the road, almost like he was either unconscious, suffering from a medical episode or fell asleep and didn’t wake up until he was off the road and that’s where the brake application came in,” Cherney said.

I don't think we need a crash reconstruction expert to conclude that he "was not paying attention to the road."

well it's not that simple. If he WAS paying attention and it was just speeding, he'd have hit his brakes. But he didn't, so that leads investigators to say he wasn't paying attention and applied brakes far too late. It's a big difference.

Texting looks exactly like falling asleep.

But like a tox report they can pull that evidence easily. They can't prove or disprove falling asleep or loss of consciousness.

Could have? Certainly. Likely?....not at all. Yes, I know a guy that went to Stanford is likely extremely succeptibke to 400ft+ Car crashes from just adjusting the Ac. Happens all...the...time....

I would think that "handheld electronic device" would be included with asleep at wheel, medical emergency, and other possible causes

I thought falling asleep was a possibility based on the early hour when the crash happened

Would love to see the toxicology report. Will answer all the questions.

Why are the toxicology reports so secretive? I love Tiger but if I got into a crash that required surgery there would have been blood drawn. They would have done this for no other reason as not to contradict any anesthesia used.
