The state of Louisiana has dropped the underage gambling and computer fraud charges against former LSU and current New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, according to his attorney. Per ESPN:

Boutte, 22, was arrested in January in Baton Rouge over allegations of illegal sports betting while he played at LSU. He was a full participant in spring practices earlier this year, and Patriots coach Jerod Mayo said in May that the organization would "wait to hear from the league going forward," regarding Boutte's status.

Investigators assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division found that Boutte bet on sports from April 6, 2022, until May 7, 2023, when he was 20. Boutte allegedly used an alias to get around the age requirement for placing sports wagers in Louisiana.

The alias account believed to be used by Boutte placed more than 8,900 wagers, with at least 17 bets on NCAA football games -- including at least six involving LSU, according to police.

I want to hear more on WHY the charges were dropped. It shouldn't have been lack of evidence.

I don't think the general public realizes just how much college kids gamble/bet online. They've got it down to a science and most sites let you start on house money (up to $500). They all do it.

If you are betting on yourself to win/succeed I dont see the problem

The only thing is see was it was against policy to bet on games. However at least the games he was a part of, he bet on himself and LSU to succeed. The underage thing man, the millions upon millions of kids you'd have to charge and convinct doing something that's illegal for their age, isn't even worth it. I know a kid who's been gambling under an account his mama set up when he was 18. He's a couple months past 20 now.

The real crime was betting on games he was involved in, even though he was basically betting on everything for everyone.
