No Country for Old Men - Cormack McCarthy was one of the best ever and the audiobook works very well.
The entire Master and Commander series (23 books). By Patrick O'Brien, great writing and series.

I enjoyed the 20th Century series and the Knightsbridge series, both by Ken Follett.
The girl with the Dragon Tattoo series is also a great listen.

But it is the Kingsbridge series.
You are definitely correct on it being very good and John Lee is a great narrator.

I think you mean Vince Flynn who wrote the Mitch Rapp series.
Dude was a very good writer. Kyle Mills took over the series for awhile. Not sure who does it now. Kyle Mills is also a very good author.

I'm on the last book of Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cromwell, and it has been a fantastic listen. The narrator is very good.

Memoirs on audiobook are often read by the author and therefore really take you on their emotional journey.

If so ... the Red Rising saga, do the dramatized version with the sound effects and actors. It's like listening to old school radio but post modern.
The first four books are out ... they're working on five and six.
You can get them for half price on Graphic Audio.

I think Ariel Lawhon's books are so well done - most are based on real life women but are fictional, historical novels built around their lives. The Frozen River was my introduction, but I just finished Codename Helene and it was inspiring.
I thought Remarkably Bright Creatures was very good. The Wedding People decent.
For Louisiana reads, try Ashley Elston and Jennifer Moorhead who both do suspense/thriller well.
I like Book Club fiction geared toward women, but I also like police procedurals and action books like the Jack Reacher series.

I am listening to "The Great Alone" by Kristin Hannah. Its pretty good - ive been doing mostly higher brow Gore Vidal and non fiction lately but this was dark and fun.
