Anyone know of any books that are real page turners and have sort of an anti-hero / film noir detective feel going on? I’m in the mood for something really moody that is a page turner. I’m on vacation and would love to pick something new up.
Books with characters like the detective in book 1 of the expanse. Maybe a Max Payne type? I don’t know. Sound off!

Not strictly on point, but Andromeda Strain - if you haven't read it, is a blazer. Easily Crichton's best novel, IMHO.
If you want quirky and maybe a little lighter, the Dirk Gently books are sort of what you're looking for in comedy format. And all Douglas Adams books are page turners.

The Lloyd Hopkins trilogy by James Ellroy is really good. He is a master. The Black Dahlia and L.A. Confinedtial are just two more of his works.

"Say Nothing" ... by PR Keefe. Solid, real life page turner.
Also enjoyed his "Snakeheads"

Phillip Marlowe fits your description perfectly. IMO the Marlowe series is the best pulp fiction ever created, although I'm sure others would disagree. I've read them all quite a few times. Start with The Big Sleep and enjoy the ride.
