I hope he doesn't fizzle out on he third book after such a wait. I do hate how he acts like a little bitch when people ask him about the release date.

I just got warbreaker by Sanderson on my kindle through the library. All of the first books of the fantasy series mentioned here were checked out. I'll have to wait.

For those of yall who like Spy thrillers, I highly recommend The Charm School.

I finished it in a week - couldn't put it down.

Finished it and I really enjoyed it. I think I read there will be a sequel at some point?

Is Perfect State a warbreaker follow up novella?

Honestly, years ago I was bored and went to a book store and it was a new release. Huge fan of the departed, so knew of Whitey, so I picked it up. Funny how he was finally caught not that long ago.

yea his story is hard to believe. most of the big guys stories in organized crime are.

i do like hitman books though now. i started off reading general mafia books about the families and as i learned about the people involved, i went and got books about them

You should def check that one out then. It covers a lot of great background info on Whitey, the gang, and a bunch of others involved.

I'm on a big Sci Fi and Fantasy kick at the moment. Looks like a lot of y'all are as well.

Most of the series I have been knocking out have already been mentioned.

Stormlight Archives - Can't wait for Oathbringer. Release date is still November 2017, correct?

Mistborn - Trying to gear myself up to start Wax and Wayne.

Dresden Files - Flew through these. Agree with the statement that it takes a book or so to get into. Peace Talks getting repeatedly delayed drives me nuts. Can't complain though, since there are 15 books already.

First Law Trilogy - Highly recommended. Love the character of Logen Ninefingers.

Saga of the Forgotten Warrior - Written by Larry Correia, this series only has one book released so far, but the second book, House of Assassins, is set for release this year. Same author also wrote Grimnoir Chronicles and Monster Hunter series, which I enjoyed to a lesser extent than this one.

Red Rising - This has been mentioned a few times already. Absolutely loved this series. A thing to note, however, is that the author has started a new trilogy in the same universe called the Iron Gold Trilogy. Not sure if it involves the same characters, but it is set to release in October 2017. Deals with the aftermath of Red Rising.

Gentleman Bastards - Another great series. Looks like book 4, Thorn of Emberlain, currently does not have an anticipated release date, though it was originally scheduled to be released in 2016.

Have yet to start Malazan or Wheel of Time, but they are both on my list. Those will be a big undertaking.

Seems like most of the responses in this thread are genres like fantasy, science fiction, thrillers, and action/adventure.

I like those and read a good bit of them. But my first loved genre and probably still my favorite are books from the late 19th and early to mid 20th centuries. Authors like Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Kerauoc. I'm not sure what that genre would be called - just "literature" maybe or "classics"?

Grimdark - anything by Abercrombie, Lawrence, Lynch, Weeks, Martin, Stavely and Ryan. Honorable mention goes to Sanderson for the Stormlight Archive, which is better than the grimdark, but not so dirty and grim.

I have a ton of favorites, but I discovered Lescroart, John Sandford and Randy Wayne White in the last 3-4 years and get lost in those guys.

White made me take a vacation in Sanibel, Fla that wife and I enjoyed immensely.
