quote:Huey Long by T. Harry Williams is an incredible tour of Louisiana and national politics, and the man who shaped it.
Any ideas?
Another great one is Berlin Diary by William Shirer.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
I picked up 1776 and Undaunted Courage today. I plan on finishing them quickly, and I'll continue reading the books you have recommended.

Can anyone suggest some good books on WWII and the Eastern Front?
My dad loves a book, I think it's called "Enemy at the Gates" about the eastern front.

David McCullough's 1776 is a good read. I really wish that he had expanded it to cover the entire Revolution, but narrowing it to just the one year and how pivotal it was, may actually make the book work better.

I love the way Craig Symonds presents the material. He does a lot of naval warfare stuff
I've read:
Operation Neptune
Lincoln and his Admirals
The Battle of Gettysburg
The Battle of Midway
Gettysburg was his weakest, as he finished it for a friend and isn't Naval related
