I thought he was all Nebraska???
I did too..... apparently he enjoyed his time here
he probably likes LSU's built-in recruiting advantage- no other BCS school in LA and proximity to tx- compared to recruiting nationally for players at nebrask

you're absolutely correct... the football training facilities, academic center, fan base, funding and national exposure are all there as well..

i know this thread has slanted to a pelini lean. i personally have about 3-4 coaches ahead of him i'd prefer- not that my opinion means a damn thing to LSU brass- but we sure could do worse than pelini...

Oh I don't think Pelini is a lock for the job by any means, though I'm sure he has his supporters. I think you'd have to look at a Mullen, Patterson, Muschamp and several other candidates - (whoever is coaching UConn is definitely worth a look) and particularly any solid national coaches who expressed an interest.

my list goes:

1. gus malzahn

2. jim harbaugh (highly unlikely considering the michigan/miles thing)
3. chris peterson/ gary patterson.
4. bo pelini

randy edsall. i think hes a low risk, low reward guy. hes polite, shows up on time, nice guy, who will go 9-3 every year. have one big upset, have one WTF-happened-loss per year and have us above average. i think this job is above his pay-grade, so to speak

thats kinda my point. im sure he'd be better with the media and speaking engagements, but overall, i dont think he brings program upside to the table.

we always had real solid QB play while he was here. good offense as well. ive always thought the coaching community was always higher on him than what his results bore out.

question is: why would jimbo come back here? what do we offer florida st cant?

Pelini's got the #13 class in the country right now, according to Scout. Which isn't bad at all considering he's doing it from Nebraska and only has 17 commits.

Michigan will not make a move regarding Rich Rod til after the 1st for that very reason. They save close to two million dollars by doing so.

That is why it will not become 'official' until after the 1st, but no reason to believe they are not already talking & planning for Harbaugh. But, what if Harbaugh says no, & Miles really has no interest?? Is there a 3rd choice, or do they give up and just take RR for another year?? Should be interesting...

I have a friend who is buddies with a board of trustee at Ohio State...He says Harbaugh the "guy" Michigan wants to hire.

I know that's not really news, but the email I received is...Harbaugh is more than fan and media speculation , it's actively being pursued.

Michigan has every intent of firing RR, but there is some language in his contract that allows Michigan to save a couple million $$$ by waiting until Jan 1 to let him go. Their first choice is Harbaugh and second is Miles.

I'm from MI, too (obviously), and I've heard the EXACT same thing from my peeps up there. Should be interesting...

FWIW.... I was told PELINI is dying to come back and take the LSU job

I did not think his wife liked Baton Rouge or maybe it's the deep south in general, but I am pretty sure she would rather live up north.

He never "whacked" Malveto, he got them another job. It just so happens nobody wants the abortion that is Crowton, so Miles will not "fire" anyone...

I'm personally thinking of not even showing up to a LSU game next year if Crowton returns...

I've never seen a major program suck off a assistant so hard and everyone knows how horrible he is. 3 years of terrible offense and Miles refuses to do anything? I'm sorry, I refuse to believe anyone is that dumb. A 10-2 season does not give you the right to ignore the major flaws of this team, I don't give a shite who you are.

Open your fricking blinders Miles, see where we'd be with a decent offense right now. Does he think the defense is going to be able to hold us up next year too? He is in for a big surprise.
