kiffin was born in nebraska and spent a large portion of his adult life in california. no one seemed worried about the culture fit with him. you don't have to wear white boots to coach at lsu

Bull. His ancestry is from the the Balkans, Croatian ancestry in the Northern Balkans across the Adriatic from Northeast Italy. Part of the large ethnic Catholic immigrant groups that came to the USA first with the Irish, then Italians, Polish Croatians/Serbians from the Balkans.
Saban fit into South LA because Saying the Nicene Creed and making the Sign of the Cross at Sunday Mass was no big deal. Still, Saban grew up near in WV in Fairmont county close to the Ohio and PA borders. More a Midwest guy ethnic Catholic area.
Your narrative is 100% wrong.

Louisiana loves people. We welcome everyone to our Special State. If you be nice, we be very nice. No looters or rioters need apply!!!!!!!!!!

Of all the LSU coaches you can remember who does BK remind you the most of? His demeanor, work ethic, not being very social, the way he interacts with press. I would say Saban. This team seems like they just need someone that is going to get 100% out of them. It all starts at the top. IF you working for a boss who doesn't hold you to a standard more than likely your not going to be as good as you can be and that is adults. These are 18-22 year old kids. I think the culture will change for the better.

This is a dumb talking point. Is Saban a cultural fit in rural Alabama? Was Urban a fit in Gainesville?
We hire ONE coonass and suddenly no one else can fit in here?

love to have seen his reaction to the facilities.

Again, that's because they're "politely" calling us hot headed idiots when they say he's a bad culture fit. Like someone else pointed out upthread, Lane Kiffin was born in the midwest and spent the vast majority of his first 15 years coaching in California, and yet nobody questioned whether or not he'd fit in culturally because he's an immature troll.

This is what we have missed from the Saban days.

The best coaches in lsu history werent from here or a cultural fit. Dumb argument. Id argue being from here and being a “cultural fit” has been a hinderance. Mostly because it allows those undeserving of the job, to get it. I.e. special ed

I thought the same thing. But I really can't wait to see and know his reaction to walking The Hill for the first time and feeling Tiger Stadium when there's a big game. I'd love to think that he'd be hooked like the rest of us.

My grandpa is a "boring" midwesterner who grew up on a farm in Iowa and fit in fine at LSU and started businesses in Lafayette and was accepted as a local. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere where everyone is a cajun/redneck and is distantly related, you will fit in fine in Louisiana.
