Also, people forget he played football at Tulane too though…

dunno man... the fact that Tulane was still interviewing candidates yesterday, and LSU landed 3 major defensive prospects today, who almost would have had some assurances to get them to sign after initially holding off, makes me think that maybe he HAS decided...

He’s still a young coach. He should stay at LSU until a power 4 job comes knocking

If Baker stays here, his path is to stay for 2-3 years under Kiffin and then jump straight to a destination P4 job, like Kirby Smart, Dan Lanning, Brett Venables, etc.

The fact this is even a hard decision shows how much Baker and family love LSU.
Hope he stays, one of my favorite Tiger coaches ever.
ETA: If he does, wouldn't be shocked if he gets an associate head coach title.

The longer this drags on, the more I think he’s staying.
It’s been awesome to see Tulane play at a high level these last few years. Super proud of that program. But, it is very possible it could go bad there too. If it does, it sets him back 3-5 years.
He will be the highest paid DC if he stays at LSU. And, we’ve got some monsters coming in. He finally has an elite HC to coach under and learn from. Especially on the recruiting side. And lane gives his DC full control of that side of the ball. It’s a great opportunity for him to learn under a high level coach. And someone that made mistakes when he was Bakers age and learned from it.
Baker has massive potential as a future HC. If he is the coach I believe he is, the goal isn't to become Tulanes coach. It’s to become the HC at a major program and make $8mm a year competing at the highest level.
If that is the case, taking the Tulane job is a higher risk for the same reward he would get if he stays at LSU for 2-3 years under Kiffin and competing for national championships. Add in the family deal and how they are tired of moving every 2 years. I think he stays.

Memphis is worse than BR
Memphis has more suburban areas around it that are very nice, though. And traffic isn’t as bad as BR.
Still don’t think he’s truly interested in that job, though.
