That's what I was pointing to, Pete has run a college football team like SMU.

Check back n 12 mos and there will be similar threads about "looming sanctions".

McKnight has other reasons for leaving. To think that sanctions are looming is a bit of wishful thinking for people who don't like USC. I am no USC fan, life long LSU fan, but be realistic.
If anything, seeing the kid in the vehicle doesn't mean USC paid for it or had anything to do with MKnight getting the car. LSU players had some pretty damn nice cars while playing in college. Does that mean LSU was buying players?
There may very well be more to all of this, but I don't think sanctions is the reason he's leaving.

With Carroll leaving, USC not in national title returning talent as of now, and the need to slow their roll so Sark/U-Dub, ASU, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, etc to divide the California talent pool better, and build to a better parity..
Expect the NCAA to at minimum, slap USC's wrist, despite their reputation as the west coast's lone national title contending superpower..& Boise?
All the star's are aligned for USC to get what they've been overdue for. It will not be severe, and probably not interfere with a possible title run for them.

You Trojan fans don't get it, do you? This isn't like all the times before. This time, the Bush depositions will be public, and the chances are pretty good that some damning information will come out.
We all know Bush is guilty, all of us who aren't USC fans that is. The only reason Bush hasn't been hammered already is because the NCAA lacks the ability to subpoena witnesses.
And you know what bothers me the most? The fact that the USC fans deny that any wrong doing occured in their program. Is there a complete lack of integrity in SoCal? Because it sure seems like it.

Sanctions have nothing to do with Mcknight- its the $$$ spent on Mayo and Reggie. JM riding around in the Land Rover doesn't help, but that isn't where the NCAA is focused.

Reports were that McKinight did register the vehicle with the USC compliance department as his.
If true, thats another nail in the coffin.

My $C friends here are fearing they are going to get hit very hard with sanctions.
Here's a CBS article for LSUTangerine to read.

Repeat--It CAN now go to court. Do you really think it will go to court? Bush will settle and it won't be soon. It'll happen close to the court date, which as yet to be set.

The "lack of institutional control" phrase has reared its ugly head. It would be the worst case scenario for U$C
Posted on 1/11/10 at 8:48 am to RogerTheShrubber
Well I was wondering this too, and I for one think that is the main reason he's leaving. I mean why Seatle? He was offered jobs in SoCal at San Diego and at Oakland. He knows somethings coming.

Yep. $C has only angered the NCAA by hiding behind the courts with Reggie Bush (was told by $C to do this, according to some) and there has been an attitude at $C that the NCAA would never touch them and they could do whatever they wanted.
$C has committed many more infractions that will come out soon.
