ULM's Weatherbie expected to be fired; announcement to be made soon
By Tabby Soignier • tsoignier@thenewsstar.com • November 30, 2009
Buzz up!Twitter All indications this afternoon are that seventh-year ULM coach Charlie Weatherbie will be relieved of his duties today.
An official announcement is forthcoming from the university.
Over seven seasons at the helm, Weatherbie has an overall record with the Warhawks of 27-51, and a Sun Belt Conference record of 24-25.
Highlights included ULM's three-way league co-championship in 2005, a win over traditional football power Alabama in 2007 and the program's first two non-losing records since moving up to the Football Bowl Subdivision -- a pair of 6-6 marks in 2007 and then again this season.
Weatherbie's career record as a head coach, over 17 seasons, is 76-115 with previous stops at Utah State and Navy.

Western KY has been filled. I know its hard to keep a running total with this medium.
ESPN is reporting that Mangino is out. I think its going to be very difficult to improve on his record. 3 bowls in 8 years. I believe they had 3 bowls in the entire prior 100 years of football. Probably Gale Sayers years.
There are a lot more bowls than there used to be. TV does that.
Quiz, from memory, what was the Capital One bowl called before I got one of their credit cards?
I wonder if it was the tangerine bowl, since that's disappeared.
Tsk. I preferred the Peach, to the chick-fil-a, but someone's got to pay all that money to the schools.

I think it was the Citrus Bowl. You can't spell Citrus without "UT"!
