a qb coach might help with the play calling and getting plays in.

It's about the OL. If you want to blame Crowton for that as the OC then fair enough.
But, to think that the majority of our problems are because of play calling is foolish IMO.
OUR OLINE IS NOT 107TH IN THE NCAA BAD.
Why do LSU fans love to throw players under the bus?

you know i think its our interior lineman.the gaurds and center.tbob may get better

I have a feeling the OL feels the same way about Jefferson.
My point is that with Miles and Crowton still making the decisions, there can be no realistic chance of significant improvement next season.
In the end, the slate will be cleaned, and LSU will resume its rightful place alongside Ole Miss and Arkansas.
I personally decided that if the direction of the offense stayed the same next season, I was not travelling to any games. I know this doesn't matter to LSU, but I fear this is a general feeling amongst people who have made a difference for this program in recent years.

I mean they are clearly the weak link on the O, but you can't tell me ULM, Tulane, ULL, Army, Ball St., etc. etc. are worse at G and C.

First of all you need to realize that we play in the SEC. So, ordinal rankings don't always tell the entire story.
Secondly, our OL can neither run block or pass block effectively. What kind of plays do you think can be called in that scenario? The answer is a short passing game. When we try to stretch the field, we don't protect and we take sacks.
Lastly, I'm not throwing the players under the bus. In fact, I've said that I think we have good young talent (Faulk, Lowe, Shaw, Blackwell, Hurst, Lonergan).
But as it stands right now, our OL is very, very poor.

no realistic chance? Why do you feel the need to overstate it?
We've got a bunch of guys who redshirted this year and a JC guy who should step in and start. Do you not remember the way that we ran the ball just a single year ago? Do you remember the kind of year that Scott had? 2 seasons ago, we rushed for an average of 200+ yards per game. That wasn't luck.

Do you think our offense was really worse than ULM, Tulane, ULL, Army, Ball St., etc., etc.?

24 points against 3-8 La Tech our O is clearly worse than our OLine

First off, belowpar said he thought that Crowton was gone. He is connected and is legit until proven otherwise. I'll go with him on this one.
But aside from that, use your reason. We had the 107th ranked offense in the NCAA. A below average o-line does not make your offense 107th. Maybe 50th or 60th in the country, but not 107. Crowton was successful his first year because he kept a great deal of Jimbo's offense in. If we could get Jimbo's playbook and Crowton calling the plays, than we might be somewhere. But Crowton's spread system is a joke. Did you see him trying to run out of the shotgun vs Arky? If we run Ridley in the I-form or singleback, than we win easily. His playcalling is a joke. See option to short side of field.
Furthermore, I blame Crowton for the loss to Ole Miss more than even Miles. On 1st and 10 from the Miss 30, Miles called for some runs, but Crowton called up three pass plays. Miles was intensly arguing with Crowton and that is why Miles didn't call TO in time. Miles and Crowton don't get along very well, and I can't see their tenure together continuing.

Miles stated prior to the season this line was probably the best he's had in his years here.
You say OL play was very, very poor.
It doesn't look like we're getting a change in direction and coordination of the offense for next season.
Am I really overstating anything? Last year we had 3 guys on the left side who had been together for multiple seasons, with one of them making the calls on the line.

Let us recall last year we were freaking out for a month until it was apparent the Malleveto was to be no longer.
If Miles thinks it is prudent to hold on to an OC that failed his players so miserably, it might be good if it speeds up the process.
Perhaps win/win

First off our OC is our QB coach. It's part of his job title. HE IS BOTH!
Furthermore, if we hire a QB coach to replace someone, who is going to be our RB coach or WR coach since we'd have to give up one of them to have a QB coach so Crowton can do his "Wizardry".
You people really don't realize how bad Crowton is. I am sure that being either fired (BYU) or subtly asked to look elsewhere for work (UO) are signs that he's had bad OL play everywhere.
Yes, we play in the SEC. UGA gave up 40+ points to SOUTH CAROLINA! We got 20 with a 2 point conversion.
We scored 24 on LaTech and if you blame Lee, you are a dumbass.
We scored 17 on MSU! 3 on UF. Hell Tennessee's inept offense scored more on UF and UGA. Wow.
But yes, Crowton isn't at fault, its everyone else, particularly an OL that has no idea what play is being run and gets no time to see and diagnose blitzers/rushers, and have Hebert direct them. Kind of hard when you don't get the play to the line until 4 seconds left on the clock.
Crowton is only good when he's forced to use mixtures of his offense with the previous regimes offense. After that, you see his offenses go with high turnovers leading to points for the other team or almost on points against weak competition like La Tech, Vandy, etc.

We play 8 games in the SEC. If you think we are really the 107th best offense then I don't know what to tell you. I'll let you stand on that opinion.
Our OL is very poor relative to the teams we play in our conference. It doesn't have to be worse than Tulane and La Tech to cause us to produce like the 107th team in the nation.

I'm not buying it until BP says so.
Same sort of stuff was said last year about the DCs and BP said they were donezo.

So you honestly don't think Crowton has coached this offense down?

You need to work on your reading comprehension.
My opinion was that Crowton should be let go.
Having said that, it wasn't the playcalling...it was the OL. The thought that different playcalling would have dramatically improved our production given our OL deficiency is naive, IMO.

Actually it could have.
A number of team with equivalent talent on the OL put up more points on teams like UF, why couldn't we?
