I suspect that is on Woodward and how the contract was structured.

I think they said we will pay Kelley his money and then we aren't toxic and then we know weves already spent $56. Then go get a Coach that isn't so expensive.

You’re a special kinda stupid, huh?

Pretty Obvious that $54 million was cheaper than the Bad PR with trying to hire a new coach.

This is correct. It needs to be a tidy house when coming in or as tidy as possible.
No distractions like some ex coach in a lawsuit with your new employer.

Certainly interesting timing and turn of events. Perhaps Lane/Sexton needed to feel better about everything going on in Baton Rouge?

I do not believe so. I think BK was getting his money the moment Woodward was fired. I think it will come out in the future that the entire fire with cause issue was triggered by him looking for a way to lower the buyout to save his own arse. I believe that because of how haphazardly it was handled. One of the items in BK’s suit was that he had to be informed of being fired with cause in writing within a certain period of time. It seems very much like Woodward just floated the idea to the media to try and get a much lower buyout and BK and his lawyer called the bluff.

I know things have moved slowly, but it took the recent BOS meeting for the vote to give Rousse the authority to fire BK. It seems to me like this was just a process playing out slowly but steadily and that no one currently in charge was interested in a potential court case, even if there was reason for cause. Think about how ugly discovery could get for us. For ANY SEC school. It’s best to leave that door closed and just move on.

Don't hold your breath on him replying. idiots like that just throw a stupid statement out then completely disappear from the board without ever backing it up.

If there was any hesitation from Kiffin/Sexton based off of “money issues” that should have put it to bed. I see it either as unrelated or a good sign that we got our guy, and don’t want the sideshow of Kelly tarnishing the announcement.
