The interesting part is that this story broke on florida's end. Thats what makes it somewhat believeable. I kinda thought they might have a OC lined up already since Wilson and Tolbert being hired have already been made public. Since one would assume the new OC would have some input into the offensive staff. But this guy is completely out of left field.

Chicken, this is now being reported on many sites.

Drayton Calhoun, and Jakhari Gore are the LSU backs for the Florida type mold.
Missing out on Seastrunk would be a huge loss, if indeed LSU implements the offense incorporating a huge workload for speedy smaller backs.

Well, Miles has to hire at least one guy out of left field. Seems like he always does when looking at assistants...
Gore is not a speedy back fyi. Maybe quick but not fast. Like a poor mans Demps.

Crowton has had previous success as an OC (both college and pro) and as a head coach. How is that working out for us??

I think the fact that he's been with MEyer since BG says a whole lot for the guy.

So WR coach it is apparently.

I usually think there has to be prior OC experience but amid rumors that GC is staying, this can be nothing but an improvement

Well the offensive coordinator talk can stop.
I do really like this hire, especially from the recruiting end of things.
Now..........what's the deal with Crowton.........

He can't be. Tyke was already confirmed as WR coach...
I'm not sure what to think about this if true. Hes a young guy and hes been around Meyer for awhile...sometimes these things explode. We'll see how it goes. In fact, I was hoping we'd go to a full spread offense and mentioned Florida's offense as a model for us. LSU doesn't utilize its speed/athletes enough, we need more option reads, putting people in motion so defense will respect that person, etc...

Agreed. That spread is not made for bulky backs.

Is it possible that Tyke will be the OC?
Posted on 12/10/09 at 8:53 pm to TexasTigah
Maybe Tyke was really brought in to be an OC.
But this info was somehow leaked.

It worked out for LSU when Dinardo promoted his WR Coach to OC.
