I think Orgeron and LSU look desperate and stupid to pursue Kiffin. It's like Bama envy. After all of this, if it's anyone but Kiffin the pundits will say LSU failed, was jilted, etc.
Now everyone else is the consolation prize.

I've been OK with the Orgeron hire but damn, sometimes he seems to lack focus. Of course, I still think he's a step up from Les, but that bar was pretty low.

That's quite the pussy mentality.

Who cares how LSU looks to pundits? Looks to me like O is taking his time and weighing his options. Most top coordinators aren't hired until the month of January anyway.

Exactly. The real deal is that folks who post this stuff come as insecure. Who gives a chiite about media perception during the process of hiring. They will come around when a sound hire is made anyway.

Aranda put together top 5 defenses at Wisconsin. Canada isn't even close to doing the same thing on offense at Pitt.

He was fired by NC State last year, and has the 79th ranked passing offense in the country this year at Pitt

God damnit - THIS! This board is just ridiculous with the Canada love. For years, we bitch about not being able to pass the ball on offense or develop quarterbacks, and now we want to hire a guy with a history of mediocre passing offenses?

Idgaf if LSU throws or runs as long as points are scored. We could run the triple option and I would fap if it worked.

That being said.. Canada doesn't exactly score a lot of points

"Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Matt Canada has emerged as a “serious candidate” for LSU’s offensive coordinator role should Lane Kiffin not opt to join Ed Orgeron’s staff, according to Ross Dellenger of the Baton Rouge Advocate. Dellenger also notes that, as previously reported, LSU has also vetted Steve Sarkisian and Mark Helfrich for the role.

We better not just "vet" this hire. Frigging interview the candidates

Idgaf either. But we've had some potent rushing attacks in the past. And that's worked very well against teams with no pulse. But then we play a stout defense, and we need to throw the ball and can't.

I'm not saying I want an air raid - far from it. Running the ball should be our bread and butter. But we need someone who can recruit and develop quarterbacks so that when we need to throw to win, we can. And Canada doesn't exactly make me feel comfortable with that.

You miss the Syracuse and Clemson games? The Cuse D is shaky, but anytime you crack 60, things are working.

If you watch some of their games, the first thing you'll notice is that they are balanced running the ball. It isn't like what you saw from us under Miles and Cam. They spread the ball around and attack a lot of different points.

It looks similar to the way Bama ran it this year, but with less emphasis on the QB carrying it, and more sets under center with 2 TEs. They attack the edges as much as the middle and make the defense think and move. Set-wise, it actually looks like what Ensminger was running. Less I, but a lot of 2 TE single back. It would be a very good fit for our roster. There would be little difficulty transitioning to his system.

All that said, there is always risk after a guy has one big year. Crowton and Cam had record-setting seasons here, and we know how they turned out. I like his fit here, but that isn't a guarantee of success.
