All I know is Campbell’s teams will play hard and be fundamentally sound.

If he can put a solid staff together I would not mind that hire at all.

Not on the Campbell train but this is just ignorant!
If coach O was half the coach Campbell was we wouldn’t be having this conversation

This whole narrative that Aranda doesn't have enough experience is a bunch of bullshite. You don't need years of experience when you see how a guy has already picked his coaching staff, handles his players, works with administration, carry's himself in public, calls a game, manages a game. Anyone saying he doesn't have enough experience just doesn't want him. He has plenty of experience. Sam Pittman at Arkansas had little to no head coaching experience and noone thinks he shouldn't be coaching at Arkansas. So as far as Dave Aranda and lack of experience, just drop it.

Agree not a hire with a bunch of flash or excitement! I think we all have our hopes on Riley or Aranda.
But if we miss it may be blah but it would really be solid and he would probably be really good.
Hope it’s Aranda or Riley

Yea. I think Campbell has to be a fallback candidate . No way he is the first choice. I would be disappointed

bookmarking this thread so I can be insufferable when Campbell has us back in the title hunt in a few seasons.

I would have been fine with Campbell before there became a likelihood that Napier would go to UF.

Ignorant. Campbell isn’t my first choice but he’s a great coach that consistently fields fundamentally sound teams.

He’s reached his ceiling at Iowa State and think he could win big at LSU if you gave him our resources.

Saban was a blah hire that had lost to DiNardo

We need some rational stability around here, and I don't care who it is, just as long as they win

What has Campbell done that is so great. He hasn’t won 10 games in a season and regularly loses to teams he shouldn’t.

Plus he’s headed for a 6-6 campaign this year and has a 30-23 conference record at Iowa St.

No thanks. We don’t need a guy who can make a terrible program an average program. We need the guy that takes our talent and makes us elite.

This makes no sense to me.

Campbell has multiple coach of year awards.
Campbell has had more career success.
Campbell has had better job offers.

Dave Aranda is two games over .500 and has won exactly 0 bowl games.

Campbell will fool you guys. He is a coach who will resonate with today’s athlete. He gets their attention by understanding their generation and is no-nonsense enough to not allow the players to take over the program.

At 41, he is the type coach that schools are seeking today.

The recruiting questions are overblown. Get him out of Iowa before judging his prowess. He has done well in Florida and will doubt keep several of the existing staff for recruiting purposes.

Think about it. He may be the blend we’ve been hoping to find. By the way, he is an innovative defensive coach and has been sought by other coaches to learn about how to stop the spread.

And, he has turned down NFL coaching offers.

I hope for Riley or Aranda but Campbell is hardly a settle-for candidate. I would not be disappointed. You shouldn’t be either.

How would you feel about a guy who is 34–24–1 at a Big 10 school with a much better football history?

Prior to Campbell, there was probably not a p5 team that Iowa "shouldn't" lose to.

Iowa State was Vandy...maybe worse.

Kind of like what Mangino did at Kansas? How did that work out.

We don’t need the guy that sticks a feather in his cap for bringing a team to mediocrity.
