What about Matt Patricia? He has a lot of NFL experience.

Jon Gruden will be dead for 50 years and idiots will still mention his name with every coaching vacancy.

This won’t be Freeman. He's their Rooney rule guy. It will be McCarthy or Brady.

would be awesome if it comes out that Freeman bailed on the bowl game so he could move out faster.

According to Grok the average NFL head coach salary is $11 million per year. The median is $10 million per year. For college P4 the median is $6.5 million. For SEC head coaches the median is $9.0 million. These are base salaries.

That’s double what I thought NFL guys made. I was always under the impression that big time college football paid more than NFL. I was wrong.

Personally I think it would be a mistake to jump to NFL but after ND season and getting snubbed by playoffs I couldn’t really blame him,

The Giants aren't terrible with the weapons they have on offense, but that's a gigantic jump for a coach with 4 years of HC experience. Also as a Midwest guy living in NYC would be a huge culture shock, doubt him or his family wants that.

Now next season ND returns a ton of starters, had the #3 recruiting class, and a super soft schedule. If he goes on a run, I can see him getting some better offers from NFL teams.

ND now has an MOU to essentially be an auto-bid to make the playoffs if they are ranked in the top 12 regardless of G5 auto bids. Not sure who signed off on that MOU, but it obviously now gives ND an inherent advantage starting next year. Their AD refused to discuss the details in his PC yesterday.

So, I doubt Freeman is leaving.

Have you paid attention to the modern NFL? Teams give head coaching jobs to coordinators in their 30's with no HC experience regularly.

I don't see it happening. Would definitely be interesting though.

Oh I know, but for ever McVay there are more flops. Freeman isn't an offensive savant like McVay or Shanahan, going to the NFL now would be a disaster for him.

luckily his season is over and he doesn’t have to worry about the “he walked out on his team” narrative

his team already quit
