Rece knows that with the right coach, LSU can be king and that scares him as a Bama guy.

All these guys wouldn’t say shite about Lane leaving Ole Miss if it were Ohio state, Michigan, Alabama, Texas trying to hire him away.

Right...and that needs to be changed too....college football is a legit mess. But thats what you get when the one body that made a weak attempt to regulate it is the fricking worthless NCAA

Don’t forget we won 3 national championships since 2003 but played for a 4th in 2011. That should hold some merit for the opportunity alone.

Sounds like Nick has changed his tune. Said LSU has won 3 national championships since 2003. Also, said it’s hard to put together a good high school recruiting class at Ole Miss.

I’ve said this for weeks!

Kiffin uses the portal so heavily because he has to. Mississippi high school football sucks. You can have 50 million in NIL and if you have to consistently build through the portal it’s going to be hard… because at the end of the day, geography still means something.

The portal can be used to fill holes. Look at LSU this year. Significant improvement on defense from the portal… but we also have guys we’ve recruiting as high schoolers. Building only through the portal lends itself to more culture clashes as a guy may be a stud at Notre Dame but just not work in the SEC and may struggle to mesh with the team.

LSU has a great recruiting base and can use that to build a culture and the supplement with portal guys who fit that culture.

Kelly did not understand this until it was too late. He came in and immediately cut ties with anyone who had connections a to the program and we quickly saw how bad the defense fell apart.

Saban's words may be willfully ignored by those with... shall we say, differing agendas, but they were appreciated nevertheless.

Mississippi has done a good job at producing Corners/OLine and occasionally you’ll get a good receiver class.

Imagine in Lane’s shoes, you’ve still got access to the upcoming talent MS produces, as well as the gluttony of talent which is Louisiana high school football. Ole Miss has done a good job building its brand over the years, it ain’t anything close to the monster that’s in Baton Rouge.

Saban’s comments seemed very telling. I may be reading too much into it, but it seems to me he knows what is coming.

Saban is always spot on. He should be commissioner of college football after his return to LSU.

NIL has somewhat leveled the playing field, yes, but OM isn't signing DJ Pickett, Harlem Berry, Jamar Chase, Maason Smith, Derek Stingley, Patrick Peterson, Fournette, Jamal Adams, Keiland Williams, etc you get my point

There are levels to this shite.

It has but OM doesn't even have a grip on that talent pool. Other programs regularly come in and pluck those guys.

That's not even counting the guys who are dead set on going to State.

Why is Saban playing baseball in Puerto Rico?

That seems odd to me.

Shut up because his thoughts don’t align with yours? He is allowed his opinion just like you are.

Agreed. Not that he didn't believe what he was saying, but I felt everything he put forward served a dual purpose in also taking the discussion away from the myopic focus on Lane.

We all love Patty and credit him for saving Gameday, but that sentimental plea for Lane to stay at Ole Miss really hurt
