I like to hear he's a good coach. As for being a decent recruiter, sounds like he's strong in NOLA, and that isn't a big priority for UGA (or UGA isn't a big priority for NOLA kids). Dude might be average in, say, Atlanta.
LSU wants NOLA, so his connections become more valuable here.
With UGA winning a title, it's a nice boost to his resume- and nice for LSU to get him away from UGA now. In-state talent that left, usually goes to Bama or A&M; UGA now has more draw with a trophy. He might be able to snag a couple more kids, had he stayed in Athens.

We had some big personalities in the WR room and it fed off of Pickens. Some guys were all business and some were not and he couldn’t get those guys to buy in. Monken had to go in and take charge last year. They were looking to replace him but kept him for continuity at a championship run.
Clearly he’s a good coach as those who were business like improved. Starting over at LSU is going to be great for him. He’ll be in his home turf and can be a great recruiter for LSU.
