Every media outlet has said from the beginning that this search was all Woodward. Yes, Tate had to approve his choice, but if you want to thank somebody, thank Scott, Stephanie, and the others on their team.
Tate only stopped pushing for a POC hire when Tucker, Franklin, and Tomlin (who was never really considered) were dropped from the search.

Tate was crushed on here when he was announced but if you follow his track record so far he has done some good stuff for LSU. Better than F King so far.

People did suspect that he'd try and have a say because he has some racist history, but it's clear he stayed out of it. That's a lot different than saying he and Woody went out and got Kelley.
