re: I would never trust Kiffin - he epitomizes a lot that's wrong in U.S. today

quote:The only school potentially getting played is OM if this forces them to make him the highest paid coach in the country
high probability LSU is getting played
quote:He got a better job offer at a place he had deep roots. It was close to his dream job. What are you misremembering? Just because Tennessee threw a tantrum doesn’t mean he did anything wrong
Second, are ya'll forgetting what Kiffin did to Tennessee?
quote:And his current employer is fine firing him if he doesn’t give an answer by an arbitrary date. Life is cruel
any coach that would leave a playoff bound team is just gross imo

I don't think they are getting played but i do think alot of this is being leaked today to get OM and Florida to up their offer

Second, are ya'll forgetting what Kiffin did to Tennessee? What Al Davis said about him when he was with the Raiders?
From Kiffins on mouth he was nowhere near ready for those jobs and his ego and immaturity did him in there. By all accounts his last 10 ish years have been pretty good evidence that he has grown up.

If its true that Ole Miss wants him to sign an extension to be able to coach the postseason then i cant really blame him.

I think it's an indictment on society and how far our standards have fallen in who we idolize.
That's way too deep. The guy runs a fun offense and has won a lot of games at a place where they dont normally win a lot of games. Lets not get any more philosophical than that.

This thread proves my point.
Don't agree with me? STTDB!! lulzzzz
We are so fricked as a society.
I am not totally against Kiffin but the whole thing seems sleazy and I don't like it.

I don't know. Is it?

A big part of all of this is just the college football structure and timelines with recruiting schedules, portal windows, etc.
When you put those things in the middle of the season or playoff periods, this is what you get.
And when you want to hire someone worth a crap, you're looking at someone already employed and not unemployed because they're unemployed for a reason.
If your son/daughter let's say was offered a better job for more money in the middle of a big project or some crap, are you going to tell them they should turn it down because it's bad timing in the short term? Integrity and all of those things are important in life but business is business too and there's never a clean break. A lot of people have opinions from the outside because it's easy to make decisions for other people's lives.

Do y'all know why Layla divorced Lane kiffin?
He was in a crashed car with a young girl in the middle of a night in Knoxville. It was reported in local news.

Oakland was 17- 19 years ago. Working on 2 decades. I don’t know how old you are, but are we’re supposed to believe that Kiffin hasn’t changed as a human being, hasn’t learned lessons in those years in the coaching profession?
Am I supposed to believe that? I’m a FIRM believer that everybody is a completely different person every 10 years. 95% of people anyway. Your argument is completely absurd and ridiculous

And now 16 years later he and his wife are reconciling so maybe, just maybe, people can change after 16 years?
Guy may never come to LSU but some people can/do actually correct mistakes they make throughout life.
If people gauged me from shite I did 20-25 years ago, I'd be considered scum too.

don't hate Kiffin, but I think it's so hypocritical the same fanbase that loathed Saban for 20 years because he lied
Cmon dumbass. LSU fans didn’t loathe Saban because he lied, they loathed him because he went to Alabama and beat our arse on a yearly basis. When the Saints and Dolphins played in Tiger Stadium after Katrina he was cheered.
And not hiring someone because he might leave in the future is about as stupid as something could be. And makes you a twat.

I do! If he is hired I will be done with LSU football as long as this piece of shite human is called our coach. I know nobody here cares whether or not I personally support LSU football, but my own principals will not allow me to support anything that involves this disloyal, dishonest, disdainful, disgraceful and distasteful walking talking bag of garbage. Everything else LSU will still have my love and support until the day I die...but not football with Kiffin at the helm.
