re: If Herman sucks the big one at Texas, does it ease the pain?

The best thing would be to meet Herman in the playoffs, beat the ever-loving mess outta that team, then face Bama for the championship and pass for 500 yards and run for 300 yards on our way to beating them by 3 tds, them never crossing the 50 yd line, and saban having a fit on the sidelines for 30 min.
I think the LSU tiger nation would blow a load so huge that it could fill up the seven seas

Of course it would ease the pain. But I'm no banking on it.

I have no pain to ease son, not concerning Herman. I would have liked to get Fisher but Herman is a major unknown. he wanted Tejas due to his connections there and that's understandable. he also wanted the Big 12 where offense is all they play.
I believe Orgeron will be a better coach for us than Herman would have been.

No, because Herman is all but guaranteed to suck at Texas.
The problems at aren't the players, schemes, coordinators, coaches etc but the culture of donor micromanagement.
Three or four years from now we'll hear some lame excuse as to why they had to fire Herman and that HE wasn't "good enough" for Texas.
Herman will be looking to rebuild his brand and restart his career after it suffers at Texas (just as Strong is now).
This isn't a slight against Strong or Herman as I'm sure they're both very capable.

I knew he would bungle the opportunity to bring in a top name coach.
The problem I have is the perception issue he has created - he came off a bad situation (Duke) and we never should have hired him in the first place.
Now that he's here - he has made 1 inexplicable move after another. The failed coup last year that he was able to haphazardly complete this year.
THEN he lets himself get played by both Jimbo (Sexton) and Herman - and in a petulant rage just goes with the guy in the interim chair, basically making a quick, economy based decision, rather than talk to 10 folks.
Now - I'm "okay" with the hire, but not how it all went down. I agree with the "negas" to a degree on this one. The negas themselves were largely divided into Herman and Fisher camps - and the "losers" of that decision would have been fairly negative on the coach, if the selection had been Fisher or Herman. At the end of the day, Alleva got his feelings hurt - he got into the deep end of the pool without his floaties and almost drowned.
Hopefully, this will be a happy accident and not a reset to the 1990s. :fingerscrossed:

Great post. I agree with every single point you made. He's made mistake after mistake and embarrassed our program each time he's in the spotlight. "Petulant" is the perfect description of him- he made a kneejerk reaction and hurried to offer a coach who was available and not going anywhere. Why the rush? It wasn't as if Orgeron had ANY leverage, whatsoever.

Yeah, it kinda would honestly. LSU fans will deny it but yes I'd like to see him fail at UT.
Of course if O fails too then it won't make me feel much better.

Truth serum. Didn't want to coach with the big boys, where defense is king. Enjoy your 63-49 shootouts Tom.

Texas is a shite show.. But it was setup for strong to fail from the start. I haven't seen this much buzz around here in Austin In years when it comes to UT. They will make sure to give Herman whatever he needs . Does he survive the Booster expectations long term ? That is still an unknown . But my money is on Herman . He will go 2-0 at worst split the lsu home and home.

I am happy with ed o.
He already ditched bradley dale.
I would rather lsu got the high energy guy from western mich, than Herman.
I do not want the coach that lost to smu. No thanks.

You don't know what you're talking about. Darrell Royal and Mack Brown had the boosters eating out of their hands. Mack Brown still does (God rest Coach Royal, I wish he could've seen this).
By the way, did you see Mack Brown at the press conference? Mack will run interference with the boosters. He looked like a proud father.
The band is back together and TEXAS is about to be unstoppable.
