One thing thats concerning about Stoops smoke is the amount of times we were told all of the university brass went to the Kentucky game during game week. It’s seems reasonable to me that a deal may have been cut that very weekend. They may have been doing more than watching O drown that day. No sauce there just complete unadulterated conjecture. They weren’t at a funeral, they were at a dress rehearsal.

LSU fans…desperately want a guy who consistently gets creamed by similarly talented teams
But don’t want a guy who has built a good program from the ground up with smart game day coaching and raising their recruiting level significantly.

I agree but even understanding that, it would still be a disappointing hire.
He’s not a bad coach but I do think he’s the type who would excel at a place with no expectations not a place with championship aspirations

Sure it isn’t, but selling tickets and soliciting donations is kind of important
As per my previous post, not a fan of him as LSU coach. But if he came in here and won, tickets would sell and donations would flow in.
And that’s the bottom line. Whoever it is, big name splash hire or a guy like Stoops. He has to win. And if he does all will be fine.

We were also told just as many times that the university brass make one road trip as a group each year and it had been predetermined before the season that this year would be Kentucky.
No need to read anything further into it than that.

Well it’s important to remember Kentucky was riding high and at that time Stoops was the cats pajamas. The Kentucky season veered into the shitter, but people would have been on cloud nine if they didn’t get undressed against Georgia. Perception can drastically change in the course of a Saturday afternoon.

Stoops runs AND RECRUITS UK like a Big 10 team. That’s just fine for UK based on where they are located and how they view themselves. Unfortunately, that mindset and strategy is NOT portable to any other SEC program except maybe Missou. It sure as hell wouldn’t work here.
I’m sure Stoops is smart enough to know that, but then you have a coach with no connections to LA or the Deep South starting over with a new overall strategy.

I’d be okay with stoops. He turned a SEC East doormat. Literally the shittiest team in the league who consistently lost 9-10 games a year, and has them now in the top 2 of the SEC east. What’s not to love about that?!
