We had old miss family members. They hate LSU so much words can’t describe it. THEN this Kiffin to LSU happened! The level of hatred now, wow!!
Start texting them the opening notes to Hold That Tiger periodically over the next week or so

It was an overreaction to the emotional feeling of being rejected.
Also Arkansas, Florida, and Auburn beat them to the coaching carousel.

Perhaps they elevated Golding as the only way possible to retain staff and salvage what they can of this season & next.
If a new sheriff's coming in town, there is no guarantee that existing staff keeps their jobs. Much greater incentive to follow Kiffin.
If they are keeping the staff somewhat intact and elevating "one of their own," while doubling salaries (presumably with the savings of Golding instead of a bidding war for an established HC) ... they get what you saw happen -- most stick around.
Short term - great strategy
Long term - Ehh, TBD

I agree that the panicked and didnt know what to do and were praying his love for his team and wanting to coach them in the playoffs would be enough for them to strong arm him into signing the extension and staying and it backfired on them big time. Really think they will have a mass exodus in the portal when done playing and could lose several recruits. If Golding is permanent head coach they will be a much different looking team next year and take a huge step back IMO

Same reason their stadium only holds 65k and they’ve only been relevant for the time Lane has been there, they’re just second or third tier

If you were the AD of LSU and the exact thing happened, the exact same way, let’s say to Ole Miss or even Alabama, would you want our coach to finish or would you just be like frick him?
ETA- this question is for anyone, maybe instead of downvote just answer…… or both

I have a hard time believing that was the plan. They didn't have much else of a choice. This seems more like the time they hired Matt Luke to get them through the probation years after Freeze. To me it looks like they waited too late. Sumrall was already hired at UF and Golesh at Auburn. There really weren't too many other options for them.

Because they didn't.
They panicked.
Just like LSU did in 2017.

They’re deceased.

hire Golding to be the interim or permanant coach?
I was under the impression he would coach through the playoffs, not a permanent gig.
