He probably has/had the same idea of direction he had prior to Canada's hiring, just less money to work with this time.

And I differ from many in my belief that O deserves some credit for offering Tua shortly after being hired. I think he realized that QBs identified by Miles and Cameron would stand no chance to develop into SEC caliber.
But unfortunately that awareness didn't result in the hiring of an OC who could last year or this year, as evidenced by the fact that we don't have a QB signee and still likely don't have anyone who could develop one, even if we did.

From some accounts the riff began during the summer, but even if it happened early in the season he knew then he was going to fire and hire at the OC position and has had a lot of time to think it through. Now I have to believe from his statements he zeroed in on Ensminger even if he had thoughts of other candidates. I believe he has fought for what he wants, then length of time may be a clue as to how hard he has had to fight. It may be that he is having to compromise or agree to some requirements from the BOS/Donors. The ideal time to announce was last night or this AM to use NFL and NCG to hold the retoric down until Tuesday at least. Or this is just one more dysfunctional shoot from the hip make it up as you go along gang of egg heads.

Do you remember last year? When they fired Miles after the Auburn game and had a ‘national search’, leaked a couple big names that weren’t going to happen, and then hired O after the season ended?

Of course not. It's idiotic to even suggest it. Not that that would stop some of the guys on this board.
The No. 1 reason for the delayed announcement would be because the No. 1 choice is still coaching (Sark). The only other reason would be that a potential candidate asked for time to consider and is negotiating with their current employer.

That was different. Orgeron got the LSU job because of Aranda. With Aranda on board, and Orgeron recruiting, the only thing missing was an OC.
That's just not the case with this search. It's not even similar. This has to be a solid hire, and I believe that it will be.
Chicken started this thread for a reason. It's obvious to anyone with a functioning brain cell that LSU would have announced Ens by now, if there was any truth to the rumor.

Maybe Steve truly does not want the job-he has been at LSU long enough to see the pros and cons - I am sure he is smart enough to make the right decision.

Not really. We had our AD frick up the search or get lazy with it. However, O was not the #1 choice the whole time. Alleva even said as much when they introduced O as HC, which i thought was pretty funny.
People are suggesting that this search is completely fabricated, i.e. no one was really interviewed, as a cover up to hire Ensminger.
