The article isn't suggesting Alabama would consider firing him if he lost to Auburn. It's essentially connecting a lot of connection and supposition to outline a scenario where DeBoer would leave Alabama on his own.
That conjecture is if Lincoln Riely were to leave the USC job for Florida, then DeBoer could potential consider leaving Alabama for the USC job on the premise that he's had good success on the west coast and he wouldn't have to live under the HUGE expectations shadow of Saban at Alabama.

Just shows you how spoiled Bama is…. Saban last won a title in 2020 (and it was a junior championship). They don’t realize that all it takes is one horrible coach to undo it all.
