3b. If Herman is the target, he may be waiting to see what happens with Texas. Even if he wants the LSU job, the Texas job opening could be used as leverage to get a bigger contract from LSU.
4. LSU could be letting this season play out a little longer because if LSU wins out, wins the SECCG and possibly sneaks into the playoffs then Joe Alleva is going to have a hell of a tough time justifying to the LSU fan base anybody but Coach O getting the job.

the more it comes out that O is the man then the more likely it is that they are going after somebody else. They are playing this one close to the vest and imo unless O runs the table and wins the SEC(he won't imo) then he will not be the coach. I will support him 100% until then though.
