do we have a gus malzhan?
So going 12-1 (not counting the nc loss) one season, then 8-4 the next is Saban level?

I didn't claim that. Nor have I ever claimed that I think aj was a good quarterback this year either.

in a nutshell, that is the primary issue of the past 7 years
and to bring this back to saban, this was an issue for him until he got his guys in and had the time to build depth. those 2005-2007 teams he left were STAAAAAAAAAAAACKED

hell that's better than what saban did rebuilding LSU or Bama
Posted on 12/15/14 at 10:41 pm to SlowFlowPro
Auburn was never needing to be rebuilt.
It just needed a decent coach. There was a lot of talent on that team when Gus came back to take over

you realize that alot of those players were recruited by Gus when he was OC right?

I agree that the teams were very talented. The lacking area where saban fell off right before he left was o line recruiting. Him leaving and basically giving up on recruiting near the end of the '04 season left us in a bind and the '05 class problems plus perriloux gone showed its ugly head in '08

you realize what
implies, right?

that 2005 class just wasn't that good and we had very limited numbers. this was before "processing" was as rampant as it is today
but a lot of people were talking about that 2005 class and it just didn't pan out in general. the major swing was RP (who was not coming here if saban was the coach), but that was bittersweet (and i don't blame miles for recruiting him)

I'll admit at the time I didn't know this, was saban not in on him or was perriloux not a fan of saban?

RP wasn't going to a team led by a tough coach. miles is much more player-friendly (and ironically, we saw that in the RP saga)

Yup, RP committed literally days after Miles was hired.

Would be funny at Monday Presser, after the bowl game, if He walks out and says He's leaving to be AD at UM.

Basically from what I am gathering is he's not been contacted about the job and hasn't shown interest in the job.
While I don't think Les is going anywhere, it's a bit telling that he's:
1) Asking for no direct quotes
2) Is asking things to be off the record
3) Wording things in a way that there can be some ambiguity
In the end, I think he is begrudgingly being forced to make some comments about it and didn't want to.
If he goes, he goes. If he stays, he stays. I just don't get the need to beat around the bush.

W/O RP we don't win the 2007 title, so it wasn't a total miss

uh, no
The only thing that he is begrudgingly admitting is that Momma didn't ever want him.

Bingo. This means one of two things. Either Harbaugh is a done deal and Hackett let Miles know so that this bit of face saving could be done or Miles is letting UM know that he might still be interested but that they need to act fast and not make him an offer when they have been turned down 3-4 times.
I want Miles to stay. Having been an LSU student through the entire 6 year losing stretch I can tell that the level of play during Miles 10 years has been excellent. What you can ask from a coach and a team is to be competitive. Miles has. Spare me the 1/9/12 and Arkansas crap. Those are 2 games over 10 years. During Miles' tenure LSU has been one of the last teams anyone wanted to play. Championships have been won. Major bowl games have been won. You know anytime LSU suits up they can win, and they usually do. It has been exciting to watch. If you can't enjoy this unless LSU wins the NC you need to stop watching until you have a little perspective.
