Exactly what is needed, IMO.

And as has been stated, pull him and recuits from Auburn is a double win.

Regarding the lack of HC experience, he's going to be eventually and I'd hate to look back and wish it had been here. He apparently pays great attention to details, has the ability to adjust, win with different styles and players, etc.

The issue of clutch decision making with the game on the line is just comical, having watched our troubles over the past seasons and managing to live through them somehow. Except Ole Miss of course.

Is Joe Alleva out there? You should email him this, fwiw. This is EXACTLY what I've been thinking, and it is GREAT to see another Tiger fan thinking this! IF Miles goes, Malzahn has to AT LEAST be contacted!

so saban was 34-24 at michiagn state and 0-3 in bowls. sounds like an elite coach to me...

Saban's next move was expected to be to the NFL and not to another college job. There is no comparison between his reputation at Michigan State and Malzahn currently. None.

And even if you ignore that fact, the record you just posted above is still much more than Malzahn has proven as a head coach...which is.....?

you said malzahn wasnt a top 10 coach. i said neither was saban before he got here. they obviously have taken very different paths to where they are right now. saban has been an elite coach. i want to see what malzahn does with this team

I agree with everything besides keep Chavis. He has shown to struggle against this new spread teams. In games we have won against those kind of spread teams I think the athleticism on our defense helped us. At times though(Florida 09, Cam Newton, etc..), the offense got the better of us. Most time his blitz packages are readable as well. He's doing a good job, but not the kind of job I expect a LSU DC to do.

No, I didn't. But I absolutely agree with the commnent. Top 10 coordinator? Sure. Top 10 coach? No.

Again, top 10 was never mentioned. I think the term was elite. But you would be wrong in both cases, so whatever you want to go with is fine. It is absolutely laughable that you think Saban wasn't considered an elite coach or a top 10 coach before he arrived here. Laughable.

That's fine. But leave it at that. You want to see what happens with the experiment. Don't try to make him out to be something he is not, or something that he hasn't yet proven to be.

Screw all of this. If we are going to get a coach who is good at a spread type offense, let's get someone with bona fides and skins on the wall. Actual experience leading an entire program. Give the bucks to Patterson or Meyer.

Offer them BOTH but Urban and Patterson ain't coming bra!!!

Now is the time to lock Gus Malzahn!!!

Auburn is a sinking ship and Gus will get a shot at a great program before long. This is not a risky selection.

I'd be OK with either, but I don't think it'll matter. So, next...

I think Gus is Hot because of Cam Newton

How good is Jim Harbaugh without Luck?

See how this works?

JJ plays good and suddenly GC looks like a pretty good OC again..and Miles, everyone doesn't want him to leave...

ah, the QB position...prey's on fan's emotions about coachs

gus malzahn's 5 years as an OC:
2010 auburn 7
2009 auburn 16
2008 tulsa 1
2007 tulsa 1
2006 arkansas 20

hes only had 1 year with newton. and hes never had the same QB 2 years in a row. 5 offenses, averaging 9th in total offense, all with different QBs. dude knows what hes doing

Angry Llama is right. We can either step up and continually set high standards or we can take some washed-up coach and hope to go to the Cotton Bowl every year.

How are they a sinking ship while they are playing for a National Title tomorrow night, have a Top 10 Class for this year and have a staff of very good coaches?

gus malzahn is a good leader, he recruits, kids love playing for him evidenced by getting a gatorade bath after the SEC championship game. hes a workaholic, no nonsense guy.

I have spent some time around the Auburn staff in the work environment. Just my perception, but from what I can tell Gus really isn't a high-energy, driven type of guy. In fact he is kind of quiet and seems to be kind of a nerdy introvert who loves diving deep into schemes and strategy. Chizik is the exact opposite and goes 190mph. Not saying he wouldn't make a great head coach, but from what I observed, he seems like the kind of guy that fits better in the coordinator role.
