I’m not sure how Ryan is at calling plays, but the line sure as hell won’t be getting pushed back.

As a Saints fan the D line play since he arrived has been night and day. He has brought so much energy and enthusiasm and he knows his stuff. After years of Bill Johnson just kinda of being there, Nielsen made a tremendous difference.

Now how that translates to the entire D and calling plays, well we'll see. All I know is that he's going to breathe new life into the defense. Some new blood was needed and he's a grinder. This young staff has me excited about the future. The guys are hungry!

On the surface this sounds like a great hire. Only drawback is he’s never been an actual coordinator but the same could have been said for Joe Brady

Nielsen has a lot more experience as a D-Line coach at both the college and NFL levels than the equivalent experience Brady had when he was hired.

Nielsen is much more of a known entity than Brady ever was before his hire.

You win with good oline and dline play.

LSU has nearly every starting oline and dline player coming back. And this guy is one of the best dline coaches out there. So this really is a great hire.

So this will get interesting. Apparently there is a dispute on whether the language of Nielsen’s contract will support the move to the college ranks. The #Saints  are currently NOT signing off on this per sources.
