Extremely mid at best for the power 4. Worse than places like Vanderbilt will have when all of their Reno’s are done… as I said. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about here
Yeah, okay.
Enjoy firing your overpaid coach in a few years.

Yeah, okay.
That’s just the facts dude
It doesn’t matter how either one of us feel about it.
I like when Oklahoma State is good, and Bedlam being dead is a travesty, but I don’t have my head up my sad about reality

That said, Oklahoma State’s ceiling is a perennial playoff team from the Big 12.
Gundy’s best talent was finding undervalued recruits and developing them in a system that suited to their strengths. Players don’t wait around to develop anymore. If you want to be serious at Okie State you’re gonna have to be able to get high level high school and portal guys, all of which will have better options than backwater Oklahoma

Location may be an issue but facilities don’t mean much if the money is right for the players.

I often wander if Oklahoma will head more towards the path of Nebraska than being a real contender in today’s current landscape. Much less Oklahoma State.
The increased investment by SMU, TCU and Texas Tech I really think hurts the Oklahoma schools, but at least OU spends and has history, Oklahoma state just seems to have no chance

You’re not wrong. Gundy was pulling some talent though in the 2000s - 2010s.
Pre-NIL back when T Boone was in his prime, they did bring in some high rated recruits that bigger programs wouldn’t take a chance on.
Dez Bryant comes to mind. LSU, A&M, OU, UT, etc were recruiting him but probably backed off due to character issues.
LSU fans probably remember Perrish Cox and Dexter Pratt. Pratt didn’t pan out but I believe Cox was a starter for them.

FIFY
OU will be fine. We’re a game away from the playoffs. If I recall correctly, OSU BMDs were holding off their $ because they wanted Gundy gone. We’ll see how they fare once the BMDs are all in. Doubt they’ll be able to compete with schools like Texas Tech though.

Good hire. No drama.

This makes no sense unless every other open or potentially open job him finishing the season was a deal breaker, which I highly doubt. He has no incentive to accept OSU early if he thinks hes in the mix for a bigger job.
My point is that this cycles’ coaching pool is a fricking joke. Being a name on the rise in this environment is an advantage. When the dominos really start to roll and you have some P4 programs downstream suddenly looking to make quick hires, he would have been one of those names. I’m just saying that a bigger job than OSU as they stand today could have been in play for him in the next week or so.

That's who I wanted LSU to grab....

but told Arkansas last week he wasn't interested
No he didn’t. Arkansas has plan A. Morris was plan C. He went with the sure thing in Stillwater.

He was the coach at Incarnate Word while I was there and I’ve been following his career ever since. OSU got a good one and I’m glad none of the SEC teams grabbed him.
You might have seen this then, but this is a good article on him and finding QBs.

I like him but OSU is probably gonna go back to being a nothing program.
