He’s from the Briles coaching tree and runs that offense.

The Veer and Shoot.

He likes a QB that can sling it and had a quick release, but can run just a little bit. Not a full fledged dual threat guy though. He HAS run 2qb systems with a passer being the primary and a dual threat running his 18 wheeler package.

Almost no playbook. Just run the system, HUNH.

Are you saying O didn't have his hands on the offense at all? Im pretty sure he's even admitted to it.

Im not saying he didn’t, but I’m not saying that O just absolutely wouldn’t let the guy coach. You guys want to slam O for Canada leaving (whims results were mediocre at best) yet, for some reason, won’t consider the possibility that Canada could just be a fricking douchebag.

I’ll ask again, since O has such an ego and feels like he should have his hands in every aspect of the program during games and he is meddling as much as he says he is....why doesn’t he meddle in the defense?

Any word on how this is playing out with O? Is he on board?

At the end of the day I think O just wants an effective, efficient offense. There were obvious struggles early on with Canada's scheme (understandable) and then Miss St happened. I think O will be more patient this time after the last debacle. It's in his best interest to let the OC implement his offense. O's biggest issue is that he knows the fan base is not going to give him a grace period so he likely jumped the gun with Canada. JMHO

Well, at the very least. This is quite promising. My source as well as tigerbaitlawyers both have Gilbert being interviewed today and the reaction is mostly pro Gilbert with no backlash in sight.

Its looking good. Not sure how we can frick this up.

What do Aranda and Orgeron want? Wasn't one of the first issues they had with Canada was that he was unwilling to adjust tempo to help give the defense a rest? Gilbert's offenses run a shite load of plays. They were second this year and fifth last year. By contrast, LSU was 94 and 123 respectively.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Gilbert, but I'm concerned if he's not a good fit with the existing staff, we're just going to be in the same situation we were with Canada. A good offensive coach that for whatever reason doesn't fit with the rest of the staff.

LSU started off trying a version of the hurry up. I think all the penalties put a damper on it

Any idea about what kind of timeline we can expect or when we are hoping to make a hire?

This will be a similar offense as Briles Jr and it can be ran fast or manage the clock.

I dont want to give you a timeline out of my arse so im going to say no on that.

Gilbert isnt the only guy sleighted to be looked at either. We'll be entertaining other coaches as well.

I would imagine we will have a final word before the recruiting dead period ends.. Just makes sense. Canada is gone now, so not much longer.

Thanks. Good to see LSU performing a thorough search after last year. And I’m not even an O basher.

Sterlin Gilbert’s offense is heavily run based. I mean really heavily. Is that really what we want? These are his season averages the last 3 years at USF and Texas.

2017: 30.6 pass attempts to 52.8 rush attempts.
2016: 33.5 pass attempts to 49.6 rush attempts.
2015: 21.0 pass attempts to 44.1 rush attempts.

Very similar to Canada’s ratio of 23.1 PA to 43.3 RA. And his best year at Texas they had the 46th ranked scoring offense.
Not trying to troll, but tell me why we should want Gilbert?

This might balance my tempo concern I asked about. Running that many running plays sounds like they must control the ball.

And the answer your question, I'm perfectly fine with that run/pass ratio. I mean, they still averaged 30 passes per game! That's like Etling on his best days.

Nothing against Gilbert, but would have thought getting the BEST and BRIGHTEST would have meant a seasoned OC with more of a longer term as an OC in Power Five, and have some BIG game WIN experience?
