The mgoblog guy said yesterday the tea leaves were positive, but he still had an important insider saying no way it's happening.

He seems much more positive today.

I kept telling you guys. you just do not believe me.

the money is on the table. all of the michigan greats are begging him to come back on tv, interviews. . even mike tirico is saying : the one who stays will be champions. (from bo) on monday night football.
His ego is satisfied.

There is nothing michigan can do now.

from the coaches who said not interested to who get the extention the past a few days, you should be able to guess who is michigan's final four.

That is why i opened the othet topic, feel bad for les miles. He knows his chance for his dream job is very slim.

What are the expectations when you pay someone this much money? Like Saban is paid way more than anyone else but he's been in, or close to the National Championship almost every year at Alabama except for his 1st year. Does Michigan expect the same results? Seems like there should be absurd expectations here if Harbaugh takes it, but they would be warranted. .

If Harbaugh is at UM they will be harder to despise.

suddenly $5 million for Sumlin looks like chump change.

gat damn, does Michigan really want to make it all that much harder to avoid paying players?

if a contract like goes down it will help turn the public against the schools in a big way.

There can't be any bigger home run hire than that. I'll take Harbaugh over Saban any day.

He's one of only like 5 home run level hires. Saban and Meyer are two more, with Chip Kelly and probably Carroll as the others that are somewhat realistic since they are loved coaching in college

This makes me a bit nervous, since he has proven to be a winner.

Michigan might not even have a viable QB for a few years. It sounds crazy to say at that dollar figure, but he might need year 3 to get things turned around. You just hope his name would stanch the bleeding on recruiting and he would stockpile enough studs to overcome all of that. Still, I don't think you can expect more than 9-3s the next few years out of him, at least I can't.

How many times last year did UT insiders all start saying this same stuff about Saban. I think it is honestly just optimistic wishing right now. If they say it enough times, they think it will come true.

It is a possibility that Harbaugh goes there, but I think there is a much much better chance he stays in the NFL than coming back to college.

Any NFL team that wants him bad enough will beat that offer.

Oakland and Chicago will need coaches.

Dude did win big at frigging Stanford. He should be able to do significantly better at Michigan.

What about Morris? Isn't he a viable arm? I know he has sucked so far but that could be a coaching thing

It's gonna be so nuts when football falls off 20 years from now, and all of these schools have stadiums with 100K seats and coaches making $10 mil/ year.

We don't know if Morris is anything other than a summer camp legend with a strong arm. He didn't really win at the high school level because his team was bad. And they don't have much in the backup department.

Would make him the highest paid football head coach in the country at over $8 million.

That's insane. The current highest paid (and best in CFB) has 4 national titles to his name and got bumped to 7.3 million just last year so its not like Saban's salary is outdated. Making a guy who has 0 titles the highest paid coach reeks of desperation. "HAYE GAIZ look at us! look how much money we spent on our coach. We're relevant again!" How pissed will the boosters be when he's 4 years into the job, having earned $32,000,000 and he hasn't won a championship?

The biggest win Harbaugh has in his coaching career is the Orange Bowl win (I'd entertain arguments of the NFC title) and even Brady Hoke has a BCS win to his credit.

the raiders can not beat that money.

they need pay the coaches just fired. to bring in jh, they need fire the gm. the buyout for gm is not small changes.

then add the pay to jh.

raiders does not have that money

yah but that's what they need to do don't they?

I can see it happening for sure. Alums will shell out anything for Harbaugh. I'm not sure that I wouldn't do the same if I'm in their boat.

if it really is 6/$49, then frick it...more power to them and their rich base.

I think the Michigan faithful are tired of not being good, and are trying to go all in on a resurgence. No one can blame them for not trying as hard as possible if he goes there
