Given the actions of the Inslee administration I think both UW and WSU will find a far more difficult time getting candidates.

There's a new law that takes effect in January that requires a payroll deduction for long term care, whether you want it or not and you can't opt out. Everyone with a W2 is affected. $58 for every $10,000 you earn IIRC.

Not that I'm debating it's better than BR(anywhere is) but as someone who has been up there it ain't all that is all I'm going to say. That place is miserable cold 9 months out of the year. Cold, damp, and shorter days. You better be inside by 4 PM because it's heading to dark. The weather sucks 85% of the time. People are shite up there too and the very definition of hypocrites. Some of the storms that move through commonly there is like a mini hurricane.

Washington as a STATE is nice.

King County, however, is full of terrible people. I work in Seattle but live well south.

They'll laugh at the South and how racist it is but won't accept anyone over their border or fits into the social standing.

Wrong. Petersen turned down USC for UW and would never go to LSU.

Wasn’t aware that Chris Petersen was ever offered the LSU job but thanks for the input, big insider

there were several big jobs that opened up during his time at Boise that he was rumored as a candidate yet he only left for UW.

Washington has no state income tax. Washington >>>>>>>>>>>>> California in terms of keeping your own money.

Yeah, unless it's Chris Petersen unretiring (heavy, heavy doubt), there is no way this is true. That program is all the expectations of Alabama with the resources of Mississippi State, and I'm not aware of any of the notable candidates having any ties to Seattle that would make them want that job. This is doubly true after the whole world saw them drag Jimmy Lake through the mud and suspend him for tapping a player with the playsheet while chewing him out for getting into a fight...

True, but the PNW fanboys aren’t going to agree because their cringey drug addict friends build up this weird fantasy about how amazing Seattle is.

Saban could live anywhere and he’s in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. If any coaches gave a shite about scenery or “””intangibles”””, Washington, Miami, California, New York, and the northeast would dominate college football. But they don’t, because no one who works as much as a college coach does makes a decision based on something as trivial as restaurants or outdoor activity availability.

Also, a major college football head coach is going to have access to the best schools, housing, etc. in the area. Any major city is pretty much equally desirable when you make $10,000,000 a year and work for 100+ hours a week and spend the other time in your house. I know a lot of people who work for college football programs, and none of those guys are basing their career decisions on the scenery. Their lifestyles aren’t compatible with giving a shite about things like that and the proof lies in so many great coaches living for extended periods in places like Columbus, Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, and Gainesville

Most coaches at the level LSU is looking for don't have toddlers. And at $8M a year, any older kids will be just fine in whatever quality of life that buys for them.

Case in point: Orgeron's kids all worked in football. Had the same life as dad.

Ok, the discussion is about coaching choosing UW over LSU and USC. Is that what Petersen did, or are you just making random shite up because you want to be jump in the conversation and be disagreeable?

Lol there’s no way you’re that stupid. Ever heard of hyperbole? I guess I’ll phrase it in a way that’s specific enough for your dumb arse to understand: the vast, vast majority of college coaches who legitimately had the option wouldn’t choose Washington over both USC and LSU for a hundred reasons, including existing talent, better pay, recruiting base, commitment to football, facilities, higher spending on assistant coaches, better boosters, better NIL support, lack of free time to enjoy whatever marginally better outdoor activities are in Washington, program history, and job prestige, to the point that the amount of coaches who would actually make that decision are statistically insignificant.

Is that better?

Coaches have families they want to keep happy, places they like or are familiar with, and other reasons outside of football that come into play.

Posters on this board very naive if they think Woodward hasn’t contacted Petersen to gauge his interest. He’s a great coach, Woodward hired and worked with him for years, they are probably good friends.

Peterson was unique because he has a child with a disorder/disease and chose UW because the medical care in Seattle was better than LA or boise.

Yea I thought it was pretty funny myself. I only guessed Franklin cause the tweet said Big Time Coach has UW Higher than USC and LSU, I guessed Franklin cause Rumor has it he wants the USC Job, so I mean he could have UW Higher or this Twitter account doesn’t have any inside info and is just a troll.

I could see some coaches choosing UW over LSU and USC. Just depends on what you want out of your coaching career. Less pressure at UW but still a demonstrated potential to compete at the highest levels. If you can land enough recruits against basically just Oregon in the northwest and west coast, you have a chance. Chill vibe around the program without the SEC pressure. I mean ... it's not the worst place to go.

You got it Chicken... I've got 3 littlies. My oldest is in middle school and my middle kid has moved around schools/daycares more times then a military brat would. Even if you offered me a 7 figure salary, I'd still balk abit just for the unrest it would cause in the family. Money buys confort, not familiarity. Also, I'm a bit conservative on the risk side; so for me I'd prefer an easier/potentially long-term job like UW to 2-year high profile/high expectation, high-competition job at LSU
