If UF is going to poach a coach from a decent school like Ole Miss, I would think that they need to offer at least $5 mil. All Ole Miss has to do is get close to $4 mil and that should be enough to keep Freeze from jumping and having to start all over.
Florida isn't actually offering him 4.2 million. Sexton is floating that as leverage to get Freeze a raise at Ole Miss. Same song and dance every year for his clients.

But Freeze already has with a sweet raise. He's not going anywhere though IMO.
The article also says the Ole Miss offer is around 4 million while the Florida offer is 4.2 million. If it comes down to $200,000 he would not leave

It seems to work every year too.

Best team in 50 years at Ole Miss could not win the west. UF is a top 3 job. He will go if they are offering. Chances of AU, LSU, and Bama being down at the same time is the only chance Ole Miss has at making a trip to ATL, and that won't happen again.

Assuming all this is true (a HUGE assumption), no way he bolts from the school he grew up with for 200k
ETA: more than likely this is just Sexton doing typical Sexton shite. Not that I blame him, it's his job after all

If he has aspirations of winning Championships. Who knows if he actually wants that kind of pressure though.

Maybe Foley offers more in response.
He's always been a bargain shopper.

Florida doesn't have state income tax so it isn't quite that simple, that also assumes Florida doesn't offer more.

While true, 4 mil a year, can go a LONG way in MS.

This doesn't make much sense, though, IF Foley can get McElwain for 2 - 2.5MM.
Less expensive, offensive background, HC experience, Saban tree, etc.

Their best player broke his leg going into the end zone. If that doesn't happen they are probably in the playoff this year.
Freeze has basically spent his entire career in that area of the country.

McL has a pretty hefty buyout to worry about.

Florida fans wouldn't be too happy with McElwain and Foley knows that. He could end up being our coach and he could be great, but Foley knows it would not be the exciting hire fans are expecting this time around.

I have read Freeze was given an extension on Friday to sign and he hasn't done so yet. Monday is typically a big news day. This may actually be happening.

They already went this route and look where it got them

Not a positive, I don't want another Muschamp, ask UT how their "Saban Tree" experiment went, the Saban tree is the college version of a getting a Belichek guy.

Freeze has experience and previous success in the SEC. That's pretty damn valuable.

I hear you. Boom was an "exciting hire" as well. That didn't work out great. Winning cures all though. The pick doesn't have to be sexy as long as he wins games.

FSU seems to be doing alright with a former Saban assistant
