Last I checked, they play 11 v 11 in the American Conference same as the SEC.

Dude, please don't compare the American Conference to the SEC.

Here's what he's done (from 247):
quote:

Worked under then-coach Kliff Kingsbury, Morris worked with eventual first-round picks Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes. While at Texas Tech, Morris also had Davis Webb, who spent time in the NFL.

Following Morris's Texas Tech stint, he became Incarnate Word's coach in 2018. While at UIW, Morris put together a 24-18 record and led the program to two FCS playoff appearances.

While there, Morris found and developed eventual top pick Cam Ward. A virtual unknown out of high school, Ward developed into a top FCS passer before following Morris back to Washington State in 2022 when he was named offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Following a year at Washington State, Morris become UNT's coach. In his third year with the Mean Green, Morris has the program at 8-1 atop a crowded American Athletic Conference. UNT's lone loss was to a South Florida team with its own star candidate in Alex Golesh.

A huge reason for the success of the program is another find at quarterback. Drew Mestemaker came to North Texas as a walk-on who never played a varsity snap in high school. Under Morris's guidance, Mestemaker is sixth in passing touchdowns (21) and yards per game (300.22), and third in passing yards (2,702).

Apparently, he's not just a great QB developer and OC, he's great at finding and evaluating QBs.

LSU isn't looking in the freaking American Conference for a coach.

Y'all may not have much of a choice.

Another interesting Morris fact. He recruited the 119th rated QB to come play for him at Wash St. 3 star QB John Mateer. He left before Mateer became a star, but it just shows how much an eye for QB talent Morris has.

OK you guys have convinced me on Morris. Lets get him and keep Baker as DC.

As far as Napier, I worked with form UF Safety from the 90's. He complained about Sunbelt Billy's simplistic route tree.

He seems like a great target for an Arkansas, Oklahaoma State, etc. where the expectations are not as high and he has more time to gain experience at that sort of thing.

Fixed it. Arkansas does have high expectations. They have not been winning but they are as committed as any SEC school and have the financial resources.
