I love Aranda, but also think that we will have a pretty good 2018 on the field and will surprise a lot of you throw in the towel guys. Send this question after next season.

Focus on process and doing things the right way each and every time. This is Saban’s secret sauce even though it isn’t a sexy thing to talk about. Process is what makes dynasties.

Not to mention, Aranda is clearly very intelligent and a master on the defensive side of the ball.

The biggest question mark with Aranda is his ability to recruit at a high level. That can be overcome by hiring assistants (like Corey Raymond) that are great recruiters, but it’s no coincidence that the two of the best recruiting head coaches in the country played for an NC this year.

Nope. It helps that their DC is, almost, equally as talented. Look for him to be the DC hire when Aranda gets promoted in 2019.

What makes you so optimistic? I like our QB situation for the most part, but we lost a lot in other areas offensively.

Dunno. How would Aranda have done against that super soft schedule they had this year? They played 7 teams with losing records. The only common opponent with LSU --- BYU. Wisconsin gave up 6 points. LSU, none.

I think hiring a coach with ZERO experience as a HC is a very risky undertaking.

but, if O fails, I, for one, would be willing to take that risk provided he doesn't demand a huge buyout.

LSU needs to get away from this idea that we MUST hire an accomplished HC from a major program. that just restricts the hell out of the possible candidates. most accomplished HC's are not moving due to THEIR RISK of it not working out. Fisher was an exception but it took him 3 years and 75 million to do it. the problem, of course, is HC buyouts. agents these days insist on failed coaches leaving rich as hell. my thoughts are an "up and comer" should not demand a huge buyout and then we can experiment more.

He was Aranda's hire and Aranda trained him, he will most likely be Aranda's new DC when he becomes the HC, just hope it doesnt piss off Raymond and he leaves. Although Corey is an alum and may be ok with making half a mill a year with alot of security... i know id be ok with it for a long time..
