I don’t think so. Nobody seriously believes it. It’s just fun to bs while we pass time as there’s not much else to look forward to until baseball season.
I think you’re right and it sounds reasonable that people were surprised he’d even entertain it and LSU would’ve been stupid to not at least ask him but I don’t see him coaching anywhere again. He is enjoying his retirement I’m sure.
I think the noise with some insisting is just proof that society becomes an echo chamber at times. There’s no substance to the rumors I’m sure. It’s everyone repeating the same crap they read somewhere and they run to the board to tell us who they know and what they heard.
It’s Saban and it’s happening fast!!

yeah, the last coaching search taught me that the "sure thing" is rarely that... at one point, it was a done deal we had Riley, then out of nowhere Brian Kelly is announced as HC, and no one even knew we had him on our radar...

If it were Saban it would have been announced already to get ahead of the signing day and portal. ITS NOT HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree OP. Verge is going to screw this up and we will get someone totally underwhelming again.

It certainly doesn't feel like we get Saban or Kiffin
I see Kiffin at UF Or staying at OM...
Saban is going to stay retired and just offer people advice
So that leave the list of coaches out there who are currently employed elsewhere
hoping for the best, but I sense it's going to be a suprise hire and probably filled with mixed reactions
We need a visionary and a hard working coach who knows football and is a born leader type

Scott brought in good coaches. Two of them won titles here.
It was unfortunate BK didn’t work out. His fit was controversial at the time, and unfortunately, he didn’t live up to the billing.

It is not fake insiders when you have prominent media, ex LSU players, and Vegas lines saying Saban is the leader in the clubhouse. Now I dont believe for a minute Saban is coming but I do believe there is a coordinated smokescreen going on.
