ther secondary hire will be huge to say the least. That might be the worst coached unit on the team. Not to mention we have 2 5* db's comming in. I am sure they will be watching who we get as well.

I think UT's recruiting drop-off has more to do with the recent performance than anything. Not defending Chavis necessarily, but he doesn't have the studs up front like he used to. And LA is a hot bed for DL talent.
But has he been incredibly effective against the better SEC teams? Not really

just seems pretty average. I mean hey great he has experience getting raped by UF's offense

He has enough talent at UT to where he has no business being ranked as low as some of his Ds have been lately. They've had a drop off, but its not like he was working with shite

wasn't 2008 his best year in like a decade?

if Robinson leaves which more and more people are saying then Chavis could be like pelini and not coach a position and just be DC, O or Haley for D-Line, willis could then coach LB's and we bring in a secondary guy, that leaves a special teams void but maybe miles would handle that or divide it up amongst coaches or one of the new guys we bring in will coach special teams

Don't forget being pounded by Alabama the past two years.

Secondary Coaches are being contacted now.
BP, are you in a position to confirm or deny that a former LSU player, who is currently a Grad Assistant is being considered for a promotion to coach the DBs (or possibly just the safeties)?

i think he will be close to what we had with pellini.
Posted on 12/19/08 at 2:30 pm to DW6pack
I don't think he's as good as pelini nor does he have the same on field respect Pelini had since he coaches from the booth. Ed is an absolute must if we truly want to change the attitudes of some of our players
Posted on 12/19/08 at 2:31 pm to DW6pack
he's not as good as pelini IMO. in his entire career chavis has never had one defense as good as any of pelini's D's. even pelini's D at nebraska was better than anything chavis could manage while having john henderson and haynesworth on the same DL. he's a good DC and LSU would probably be consistent enough to win with him, but i doubt there will be many dominant defenses under his watch

quote:I tried to read through the forst few pages and thought 2 people said today Payton said Coach O was staying put.
Why would Payton discuss this? It's just like Les not discussing the release and hiring of coaches. It's bad business.
I am not reading through 15 pages of arguing, whining and bullshite.
Belowpar knows what he is talking about and the question i asked is because i am confused about that part of it.
I am getting ready to go fishing and cant read through all that.
I want Coach O to be here like a lot.
So i was wondering what the chances were this is happening or if its just rumors.
I guess Sean Payton doesnt know anything about Saints operations, my mistake for thinking he did. But 2 people posted something about him.
All i want to know about is Coach O ...
Thx

He has an offer from LSU and Tenn
No decision yet from Coach O
Some reports indicated O is headed to LSU
Some reports indicated O is headed to UT
Stupid I know, but both side seem confident
I was betting I would say LSU, O is from LA, likes it..probably doesn't want to uproot his family out of state again
