Reading between lines, is this suggesting Orgeron might take the DC position?

I am pretty sure Miles has to go with a DC with experience this time around

I'd have thought the same.Though O does have HC experience.

No reading between the lines, if Orgeron comes its for the 3 positions I've already said...DC will be someone else unless something drastic happens.

Makes sense, but for the chain of command/consultation with the DC point.

Agreed...from the start, there can't be any doubt in the players' minds that the DC is qualified and can do the job. Previous DC experience is a must.

Makes total sense. I'm just a little at a loss to believe LM wouldn't have at least informally cleared the Orgeron thing (if it's true) with the person or persons he's talking to about the job. And I suspect he has.

Id imagine scheme decisions would go to the DC while recruiting would be CoachOs province.

Did Les replace any offensive assistants when he hired Crowton? I don't recall.

I don't think the new DC having no input on the DL and DB coach replacements is a huge deal.

We could do a hell of a lot worse than Chavis.

BigJ, you are a few years removed from reaching puberty...what do you know about hiring a DC?

Depends on the personalities. EO has a pretty big personality, has been an SEC HC, and will, by reputation, have a close relationship with the players. I'd think, since both he and the DC are being hired at the same time, that LM would want to be sure there wasn't an oil-and-water thing. But I'm just a poor country lawyer. What the f*ck do I know?

Monken left when Crowton was hired. Did Les hire Mccarthy?

.if we hire Walker We're prolly looking for a new DC in 2-3 years

I am perfectly fine with that because that means his Ds have been very impressive

exactly

LSU's DC should always be a stepping stone to a HC job somewhere or the guy isn't doing his job with the talent we have

thanks as always Belowpar for the reassuring voice of reason you always seem to be. Things are getting done behind the scenes, and in the fashion I like them to be done- Quiet and purposefully. Thanks again for the heads-up. I will be happy with either Chavis or Walker, and I do think Coach O is what we need to put a little fire under the jambalaya pot.

Walker might be holding out for more pay at UCLA or another college HC gig if there is turnover after the NFL season ends...

Whats up with the rumor "sources close to Walker" say that LSU or Miles has not spoken to him?

What is the deal with that?

Chavis is an excellent hire IMO, but Walker for some reason gets me more excited.. Younger aggressive Smart black DC is going to succeed at LSU

So, is it confirmed that Les interviewed Walker during his trip to L.A.?
