If Missouri is #14, and I think it will be, then let's look at a few things.

You can't move Alabama and Auburn to the east, that would have 30 of the 38 participants on the SECCG since it's inception in the East.

Putting Missouri, or A&M in the east makes zero sense from a cost basis for travel between the schools.

Alabama and Florida have to be split, since between them they have almost half the total appearances by teams in the SECCG, oddly enough with Alabama having played Florida all 7 of it's appearances.

LSU and UT have to be split, again to balance the conference as much as possible.

Georgia and Arkansas have to be split. Again ideally it would be Arkansas to the east and keep Auburn in the west, but again, doesn't make sense from a financial standpoint.

Face it, with Florida's dominance in the east, they need some more competition in that division and the only teams that make sense for that move are Alabama and Auburn.

Put Alabama in that division and it weights too heavily to the East. Put Auburn in that division and it makes the East the stronger division initially just not extremely so, but if A&M does as well at least as Arkansas it will go a long way toward balancing that back out.

The west would have better balance across the board, and the east without much of what I'd call "mid-tier" teams.

Yes some rivalries are going to be lost. Not looking forward to that, but it is what it is, the super conferences are coming, might as well get used to it now.

Kind of like.

"Quit or you're fired?" You can volunteered, not like there was really a choice.

there was no reason for au to come out and publicly say they would offer to move to the east if there wasnt something in the works that would end up with an unbalanced add (ie 2 teams from the west to get to 14 or 3 teams from the west and 1 from the east to get to 16)
this makes me think that was the plan all along.
besides, my comment was mainly directed at him blasting a hog fan about giving his opinion on realignment.

its utterly absurd to tell another poster their opinion is worthless because they cheer for arkansas, like that has a damn thing to do with anything.

Time for the tail to quit wagging the dog. To he'll with these old rivalries. OU quit playing Nebraska and the world didn't end. If they want to play every year, go ahead and schedule it but don't count it in conference standings. Same happened this year with Cal - Colorado

What exactly are they giving up by moving to the East?

"Fine, I guess we'll go to the other division and play all our main rivals. If you insist."

why? because its a money game for the sec.

and ut-ua is more important then iron bowl to bama fans and that's what matters.

please quit suggesting ooc conference games. Dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I like Mizzou to the East because it doesn't water down the western division as much.

The East needs to have to deal with some new blood, too.

If you put the Barn in the East, then the cheating bastards in Bham will try to force a Bama/Barn SECCG... Book it!

Move the SEC offices to Memphis. Its as close to neutral ground as exists in a large SEC city.

Memphis will be a more central location than before now that we're moving things west. Memphis is a UT/OM/AR and even MSU and LSU town.

I hope we can at least get the baseball tourney there a few times in the coming years.

Rivalry Priorities:

The others really aren't worth consideration.
