How can OSU and OU be so tired of UT that they are ready to bolt to the Pac 12, but they are gonna go with the school they are tired of dealing with.
Regardless of their bravado, it's unclear how far olympic swimming champ OU can go with that little brother anchor OSU tied around their neck. It may be that the only way to get to the PAC is with TX. The B1G won't take them. The SEC would, but they really don't want to go there. I doubt that the ACC would take them unless they were desparate. The BE would take them, but come on. In a conference like the PAC TX would be neutralized, so you make peace with the devil.

my take on T. Boone's comments - OK is flexing their muscle and delivering the ultimatum. either texas agrees by K to an equally participating conference, the conference is over.
Hell, what if everybody leaves Texas, forms their own conference, adds some schools, and goes forward? Is that too far out?
Hard to argue with those who state that boone was saying good-bye, when you figure the chances Texas will agree to be fair. but maybe not.
one other thing, if Texas goes to another conference like the pac 10, you can be sure they will only be admitted as an equal partner in the conference. Thus, OU could go to the pac 10 if Texas did, because the pac 10 has the keys to the gate.

I'm sure Dr Dunkenhorn will say 'This is how Texas wanted it all along. The whole plan fell into place - script and all!'

This is the key to the Big 12's success. Texas has never shown the leadership needed to build a strong Big 12. They don't give anything back, they just take everything they can get. If they could ever see the benefits of building a strong Big 12 college football would be better for it.

It's Texas,so no.
That's the problem with the Big 12 and was from the beginning. It was like the old SWC and it revolved around Texas. It worked okay in the SWC. The issue is the old Big 8 had Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri (back in the 50's - 70's) and Oklahoma that had some strong tradition. Add in Kansas for their basketball tradition. When Texas and the other 3 Texas schools joined, Texas immediately had it running like the old SWC thinking that all schools revolved around them.
They did whatever they wanted, got rid of one of the greatest rivalries in Oklahoma and Nebraska and then took a bigger share of the money.
Nebraska and Colorado got their fill and left. Now A&M has left.

Funny how directly T-Boone seems to be speaking for OSU...but money does talk, I guess.

TCU is not a kingmaker because they are not involved in any way with Big XX-2-1.They found a home and I'm glad for them, but they are onlookers.
I hope that sip and the EsipN channel go indy
TCU has rebuffed advances by the Big 12, which is dying. If TCU were added, Texas could at least hang around for a year or two sans A&M and OU/OSU, and might not lose anybody else if TCU were to replace A&M.
If WV gets scooped up by the SEC or anybody else is lost from the Big East to someone else (ACC, Big 10), TCU departing the Big East would all but kill it. Louisville and Cinci or Pitt would be in the Big 12 in a heartbeat if they thought it was stable.
TCU stays in the Big East, it survives and the Big 12 probably dies. TCU goes to the Big 12, it survives and the Big East dies. TCU is likely the kingmakers in this, whether you want to believe it or not.
