We have been looking for a place to relocate and somehow Northern Utah came up. I am retired now but have a 10 year old and a 14 year old. Looks like the schools are highly ranked but not sure about the overall area. We are not Mormons nor do we have any intention on converting to one. Anyone have any information on this area?

It’s paradise. Polygamy within the Mormon church has given rise to an abundance of promiscuous women, a true land of milk and honey, full of poopholes just begging to be loopholed.

Just be careful. When the Mormons are a minority they are super nice. Once they become a majority they become pushy.

I love SLC. It’s more liberal than you’d think and not as Mormon as you’d believe. SLC is growing a ton. People there are nice, but not Southern. What does this mean? In Alabama, you can meet someone at work or school and be eating dinner with them later that night. That doesn’t happen in Utah.

You have to love the outdoors. Everyone in Utah does something outside and are generally in shape. The food is better than you think and SLC has plenty of options. My favorite brewery is there, Fischer Brewing. Football is big there, but obviously not as meaningful it is here.

I’d move there tomorrow if I could. My wife’s business keeps us here.

PS: SLC is about 4hr from Jackson Hole and 6hrs from Yellowstone.

No lie detected here! I've been there a few times, the only thing that's really frickin weird is their street name system. Cool bars outside of the big church area if you know where to look, decent beer there as well (Epic is a really good one).

My parents moved to Logan 1.5 years ago. Being mormon doesnt really matter in the cities at this point. The schools are excellent. You should really consider it if an option.

My father is outdoorsy and loves it up there.

Once you figure it out though, it makes it really really easy to get around.

Utah is Colorado 50 years ago. All the outdoor scenery and things to do without the voters who live in Colorado now.

Indeed - I just remember getting a delivery to a window distributor at 1880 South 1045 West St and saying WTF?

The Mormon influence is vastly over-stated these days.
Unless you are seeking public office.

False

The rest of the state is

There are a few shitty areas in SLC proper. All the suburbs are fine.

Mormons are super nice people

I'd love to live in Utah. It would be on my short list if I could live anywhere I wanted in the US.

Yup.

The weirdest is Grand Junction, where the streets are just letters of the number of miles from the Utah line. They use fractions for it.

So theres a G road and 24 1/2 road intersection.
