I was expecting a lot worse as far as homelessness and drug issues. I was smart enough to listen and not seek out those places so I’m sure they were there somewhere.

You must have stayed out of the Tenderloin

Tenderloin has always had its issues, but it's really bad near Mission and 7th. When I'm in SF for work, I love going to City Beer Store and Cellarmaker, but it's gross as hell over there.

I don't like their new location/setup, give me the old place

I stayed a night at the Hotel Adagio, Autograph Collection when I was in SF for work a few years ago. The view from my room was....interesting.

A lot of people have similar feelings, including a few of my friends. I do like being able to sit outside at the "new" spot, but inside is stale. Not much character to it.

Union Square and everything around it is unbearable. Really it's anywhere near Market St between 1st and 7th. Which sucks b/c that used to be such a great area to stroll around.

This is a sad statement. It is shitty, but not a shitty as I though so it was OK.
San Francisco has major problems and it brings a tear to my eye. I lived there for some time in the 90s and damn if it was not one of the best cities in the world.
Before college worked at FAO Schwarz off Union and worked some college Summers in Marina district and Deyoung Museum. It was very clean for a large city and you were generally safe anywhere, even the Tenderloin.
They had their share of homeless back then, but they were a very different kind. Drugs were not really open at all unless you went over to Haight Ashbury.
You have no idea of how good it used to be
