Winter Storm Landon Airline Travel Advisories
Posted on 1/31/22 at 4:19 pm
Posted on 1/31/22 at 4:19 pm
Hope everyone is having a good start to the week. Woke up with covid symptoms so we'll see if it's that, bronchitis, or the flu but in the meantime I just checked and saw some of the airlines start posting waivers for this week. I'll let Duke chime in on how bad the forecast will get, but for now I'll start posting the airline waivers below. Any issues please post here and myself or others will be happy to help

Ugh. This is going to affect flights all over the US.
Posted on 1/31/22 at 4:24 pm to VABuckeye
Yes it is. I started to post just the ones for the dallas area but there's also waivers up for the Rockies area for snow
Posted on 1/31/22 at 6:02 pm to CuseTiger
Flying Delta from Atlanta to Steamboat on Thursday, any idea if this is going to cause a problem getting there?
Posted on 1/31/22 at 6:10 pm to Red Solo Cup
Really depends on where your plane is coming from Thursday. So far Delta hasn't gone out that far with tracking planes but if it comes from the southeast you're good. If Dallas area or the northeast, no bueno. Below is forecast for Thursday at noon eastern time.

Cuse - are you expecting any impacts to flights tomorrow (Tuesday)?
Posted on 1/31/22 at 6:18 pm to skewbs
There's waivers up for tomorrow on some of the airlines so if you see a flight you want rather than what you're booked on you can change for free. Do you like your flights or want something better?
Posted on 1/31/22 at 6:22 pm to CuseTiger
The flight is great. Just checking b/c I'm headed to Montrose CO in the morning and I'm not seeing any weather impacts then... but wanted to get your expect opinion as well
Posted on 1/31/22 at 6:25 pm to skewbs
Colorado looks good early tomorrow then getting worse as the day goes on. You should beat the storm in then have fresh powder for skiing
Posted on 1/31/22 at 7:01 pm to CuseTiger
Thanks. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I can get out of ATL.
Posted on 1/31/22 at 10:59 pm to CuseTiger
Booked DAL-ATL-MSY on DL Thursday afternoon. 4:59p departure from DAL and that is right when they're showing the sleet turning to snow. Not sure if I should switch to a Wednesday night flight or if that will be just as big of a mess.
Posted on 1/31/22 at 11:03 pm to H2O Tiger
I'd just rebook now based on forecasts. Dallas really hasn't had bad winter weather this year so this is the first big storm for irrops there.
Posted on 1/31/22 at 11:09 pm to CuseTiger
The question is whether or not Wednesday is also gonna be a mess. Looks like a toss up as to whether it'll be rain or wintry mix at that point.
Posted on 1/31/22 at 11:22 pm to H2O Tiger
I'd think Thursday is a no-go after the ice and snow while Wednesday is at least a chance of getting out. How badly do you want to get to Nola?
Posted on 1/31/22 at 11:29 pm to CuseTiger
I've got meetings in Baton Rouge all day Friday and Saturday. If Wednesday is going to be the better option I'll try and get on that and just hang out for an extra day.
Posted on 2/1/22 at 6:07 am to CuseTiger
Cuse, I don’t see Austin listed. I’m guessing flights out of AUS on Thursday aren’t happening, right?
Posted on 2/1/22 at 8:17 am to Suntiger
From everything I've seen Austin is below the freeze line for the entire event.
Posted on 2/1/22 at 9:17 am to H2O Tiger
Ended up changing my Thursday flight to a Wesnesday night DAL-ATL-MSY.
Posted on 2/1/22 at 9:40 am to H2O Tiger
I saw this morning that it kind of cuts off right at Austin. Guess we won’t know until later today or tomorrow on that one.
