Where are you staying specifically?
There is bass fishing on the lake, small-mouth on the rivers. Some trout, but most of that is a little further east.
Great hiking around the Buffalo River area. Look up the Goat Trail.
Closer to town is Devils Den State Park south of Fayetteville. There I recommend the Yellow Rock trail

Azalea Fallslodge is a neat place to stay near hiking and outdoors areas. Run by a couple, and the husband is a big hiker who knows all the area trails. Bring your groceries, because you are in the boonies.

We are contemplating a move to that area and I am just curious if anyone had input. We have not decided on where to buy yet so we will be making some trips to visit.

Any kind of fishing you could want. Head just a bit to the east on some mornings and the White River has good trout fishing. World record brown was caught out of the White. I’ve caught a few big ones myself. Beaver Lake Dam tailwater River provided pretty good trout fishing as well if you wanted to hit up super local.
Beaver Lake has large and small mouth bass, stripers, crappie, walleye, etc.
Not sure where or what you’re looking for, but there’s tons of things for an outdoorsman to do who isn’t into biking and all that jazz.
NWA is a good location to Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma white tail hunting. Also some nice size deer in NWA, but not Kansas/MO/OK size. Turkey population is very good.
Notice you said move…you guys looking for land living, subdivision living? I prefer areas south of Fayetteville and west of I49. Find a place that already has water and electric. West side of I49, folks have a hard time finding water when drilling a well but the properties are beautiful.
I also like the area on the northeast side of Beaver Lake but not quite all the way to Eureka. Don’t buy anything sight unseen in Madison County.

I'm not from NWA, but have really fallen in love with the area. Not too far from Dallas and has tons of great outdoors. I'm partial to Fayetteville and purchased a house there recently for purpose of short term rental. Old college town, lots of restaurants, cool place. I find it very easy to get around NWA, wherever you go.
I also purchased some land in south Washington and Madison county last year that has some great features(creek, caves, etc.). You'll pay for anything with live water and easy access. You have to be quick too. I've been watching the area for the last 5 years and demand has gotten crazy.

Thanks for the info everyone! I have been watching for a year or two also and the prices have increased a lot but for work reasons we could not pull the trigger until now. We will make our first trip up in about a month. We love outdoors but walking/regular biking, kayaking, and fishing are more our speed. And we are wine and bourbon drinkers not beer.

My wife and I are in the same boat. We got to the Jasper area 3-4 times a year for 4-7 days each time. We never want to leave. I'm on the look out for a sizeable cabin with land to move. We love it up there. Thats where I want to be if the bad shite ever goes down!

I'm just south of Gravette. Blue collar, good schools,low crime and the interstate being completed is causing growth (in a good way). It's a solid bedroom community if you work in town or work remotely

Been internet window shopping retirement locations in NW Ark.
Lots of small towns that seem like they are on the brink of being discovered.
Bella Vista seems like it has quite a bit of suburban development just based on realtor.com

I'm outside of city limits but have a Gravette address and in the school district.
If you need to be closer to more amenities I like Siloam Springs. It's about 15k people and 20 mins south

My realtor has talked about all these areas and we saw drone video of Siloam Springs recently.
This is certainly going to be a boots on the ground investigation. I will report back.

We have arrived. Several month rental in Bella Vista. I see why people like it here. Weather is great and low noise. Even our cat seems impressed. Now to start visiting different areas. I have determined the Pinnacle area is not it.
