Yeah, this new format is absolutely ridiculous. It sounds great having more and more high level matches to watch, but they've got to be about to reach the point of diminishing returns. Adding four more games before the knockouts even start seems crazy. Teams will be juggling league play, UCL, domestic cups(x2), and international tournaments throughout the summer? Gonna be so many more injuries.

Yeah not ideal, but the only way to attribute higher wages and transfer fees is more high profile games that networks are willing to pay for. It’s either this or the Super League. Take your pick.

Have they confirmed those 4 new spots will be for “historically” successful teams that wouldn’t otherwise qualify?
