Saints Game In London- where else to go?

Once the date is released the wife and I will decide if we are going or not. From what I have gathered from friends they recommend to see the Saints game in London and then spend the rest of the trip somewhere else. It would probably be 3 or 4 days elsewhere. I see Dublin is a short/cheap flight so it is on the list of potential destinations. I have never been across the pond. We enjoy drinking, eating, night life,fishing/boating, adventures, etc. Not really into sight seeing if that makes a difference. Wife doesn't golf and I am not good enough to warrant bringing my clubs. Thoughts?
edit: game will most likely be in October

Neither am I but that hasn’t stopped me yet.

That's pretty weird.
If you've never been to London you can spend a week in London and barely scratch the surface. I would stay in London and do a day trip to somewhere like Stonehenge/Bath. London is pretty cool, but it is very expensive.
You're not going to find a lot of better places for drinking, nightlife and eating than London. You can also do a Thames river cruise.
I know you're "not into sightseeing"...but there aren't a lot of better places for sightseeing than London, either.
the Churchill War Museum may be of interest to you.
When I went to London, I made the mistake of splitting it btween London and Dublin and both were rushed. I wish I had just picked one (you definitely do not need a week in Dublin, it is small, you can see the rest of the country too).
But if you want to do it that way, Dublin is a short flight and a fun city that you can see most of in 3-4 days.

London is one of the best cities in the world. That’s all the advice I have.

My idea of a perfect vacation involves a few days on the beach and a few days fishing/excursions somewhere tropical like Costa Rica/Cabo/etc. sorry not sorry

Paris.
Get on the Eurostar in downtown London and it takes you to downtown Paris in 3 hours.

London is a great, big city. It's like a mix between NYC and Boston IMO. No reason to leave unless you have other specific destinations in mind since it's your first trip there.

Neat, you're going to London though and have never been to Europe.
You can do those things in the Med if you went to Spain or S of France, etc.
But if I were you I would fully embrace the London experience. It is an awesome city and you can see some truly cool stuff. If you like history...there aren't a lot of cities better. And some really good day trips. And the food and nightlife is totally incredible.
Not to mention that there will be thousands of Saints fans there.
Embrace what a trip is not what it isn't.

Then you need better friends.
London is a great city to spend a few days in. I'm not saying to not go elsewhere, but spending 3-4 days in London and then hopping over to Dublin for another 3-4 days would be great.

We went in 2017 and loved it. Club seats at Wimbley were around $150 and included buffet and aycdrink. Spent 4 days in London, then spent 3 days in Amsterdam (about 1 hour flight).

Thanks to all that have responded so far. I guess I need to look into London some more.We may end up doing something like what Rummel said and hop over to Dublin for a few nights to end the trip.

Damn that's cheap af for club level. You got your tickets through the Saints or what? I am a season ticket holder so hopefully I can enter some sort of lottery for tickets since it is a Saints "home game". I don't remember what the process was like in 2017 because we weren't able to make the trip.

That is how I did it. I liked Dublin quite a lot, and at times loved London and at times didn't.
I wish I had spent more time in London and done it in two separate trips.
You will be rushing to see everything in London, but since you don't like sightseeing, maybe you can just take it easy.
Dublin is a really cool city and you can see everything in the city in 3 days. Its not very big.

Had family who were Dolphins fans with access to the tickets, and purchased from them. They didn't enjoy the 20-0 whipping.
It's odd, but the thing I remember most about London was how massive the subway system was. Some entrances went down four flights of stairs, and the structural supports involved lots of 36" ish pipe and 12"-24" I beams.
Bring comfortable shoes. Thinking about that trip makes my feet hurt.

We went for the 2017 game, which was a terrible game even though the Saints won, but still a great experience. You definitely want to spend a few days in London. There's actually a palpable excitement in the air for the NFL game, not to mention London has a ton of great restaurants, museums, attractions, etc. FYI we combined the trip with Oktoberfest. If the game is scheduled favorably you could do both.

Did the trip in 2017. We flew to Paris and spent 4 days there, took the Eurostar to London and then spent a full week in London. As others have said, we were there a week and I felt we barely made a dent in the city.
Great experience overall though and even though the game itself was boring, the atmosphere was really great.

London is great, almost took the Eurostar to Paris when I was there and glad I didn’t. Won’t make a dent in London in just a week. I understand “big city” thing might not be your thing but the history is incredible.
Churchill War Rooms, and watch Dunkirk before you head over if you haven’t seen.

This is me as well. Have a few good meals in London. Make sure you have a full english breakfast after you arrive, it will certainly help with the jet lag and shitty feeling of sleeping in an airline seat. Have a dinner at Hawksmoor and a lunch at Dishoom.
If you really don't want to sight see and do want an adventure, grab the overnight train to Scotland. I prefer Edinburgh over Glasgow, but you really want to go all the way up to Inverness or Fort William. You can book some shooting or fishing, drink some scotch, eat haggis, visit distilleries and breweries... In walking distance from Inverness downtown is the Ness River, the outflow of Lochness. I have seen guys fly fishing it before which means you wouldn't have to rent a car.

We did the exact same thing. We liked Amsterdam way more than London but had a good time in London. So much to see in London so you will need at least 4 days.
